[CASE INFO] Fred (on-going)

Here's what I've managed to piece together from the Fred case - please feel free to point out anything I've missed

Usual background check came up clean, altho he did knowingly cheat on his
taxes last year according to emails between him and his accountant. You
really shouldn't save those kind of things, ya know?

Biggest problem is the trail is 60 years old and cold. Gonna take a lot of
background digging to turn up evidence….even more to turn up new
clues. But hey, you found that stupid book, Im sure we can find this.

(this next part relates to a separate case)
Should I also be concerned about Vanessa? As far as I know we're at a dead
end on her case. Hate to have to give her retainer fee back.

You're telling me that the super efficent Japanese with their love of
computers don't have an online record you can dig into? I find that
one a big hard to swallow.

(relates to separate case)
Hold off on any fee return. I'm tracking down a guy in London that is
suppose to have an in with the higher end crowd. If he knows where
it's at we can be on top of it within the end of the month.
Stop thinking about other women and how sexy their names are.

No, that's the problem, the records are super shady and slim to none. Gut
feeling is we're gonna need to hire someone tolook thryu dusty tomes and
newspapers. I'll give it the old college try tho…heh

Will do as you suggest with Vanessa….sexy name she has, huh?

Misha adds the following notes to her case folder

Recorded conversation between Ian and someone called Jin (presumably the help that Misha requested in her notes above). Jin says she is in Japan and Ian is interested in her working for him. Ian says he will email her with all the info for the project and discusses payment.

I've found a girl in Okinawa that seems to understand what we need
done. She's willing to put in the leg work time and explore the not-so-well
documented past. I gave him the flat rate and he seems fine with it. I'll
let you know if he comes up with anything.

(relates to separate case)
Vanessa called me this morning…..She's pissed basically. I led her thru
the steps so far, ending with us trying to catch the trail of the original
robbery. She didn't seem to impressed and I really don't blame her. This
one has us stumped, or at least it has me stumped. Any suggestions on how
to handle her?

Ian

Hello Ian,

I thought a progress report might be in order even tho I haven't heard back
from you in a while. I have been concentrating on museum records from the
period of the theft and I have to say that this may take a while. What
records there are, are slim and everything is disorganized and scattered
about. It has taken me several days to even find the correct governmental
storage area that has the files! Im continuing onward tho and hope to have
a system in place soon that will result in some tangible results. If
nothing else, we'll help clean up their records!

Jin

Nisha has the following links in her Misc Items:
http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/arttheft/asia/japan/okinawa/okinawa.htm
http://www.wonder-okinawa.jp/007/english/point/izena/
http://www.kougei.or.jp/english/crafts/0211/d0211-1.html

Because of her interest in these sites, I believe the scroll that Fred is looking for is the painting of King Shoen (1470 – 1476) Dated 1796. This was stolen during WWII.

That's all I got so far[/quote]
