I haven't tried the number yet (I will tomorow when I have access to a cell phone) but I noticed on the Gameography in this unfinished game, there is a series of letters that you can progress by clicking on them. The letters also shrink and grow if you drag them around the page while clicking them.

As of yet, I can't tell if the letters start to repeat or go on indefinately, so I can't transcribe them here yet. I'm sure its a puzzle though, and am keeping a log of the numbers as I get them.

The "unfinished" game might be referring to the process that allows trees to absorb water, in which case it is possibly wanting a keyword related to said process.

Adding the fact, as I continue to play with it, that the goal seems to involve setting the letters in the little indentations...

EDIT: I would also like to note that right now the Google banner is in the style of a van gogh painting. The game developer mentions Van gogh in his intro...

I noticed earlier that as you turn the gears (by clicking on them) that the letters run through the alphabet in ascending or descending order depending on the gear, but the water also rises and makes the leaves grow.

Did you get the water to rise all the way? I can't get it to do more than a slight jiggle.

Beware guys, the gamje is a little glitchy. DOn't click on the same letter too many times or the game will freeze and you'll have to reset it...

No luck on the science theory. TRANSPIRATION PULL was my best guess so far that fit the spaces.

It's vaguely possible not every space is used, and having 18 spots is just a generic "more than necessary" setup, but that opens the possibilities very wide.

It would be damn cool seeing Google launch an ARG, but I think this may be just a coincidence: Today, March 30, is the day Van Gogh was born, and Google has the habit of doing special banners for special dates, and maybe the game was launched today because of Van Gogh's birthday, but the two things may not be otherwise related.
