the perfect film hey guys, and girls.
so basically, as some of you already know, I'm going to be taking a motion picture production course this year becuase I plan on being a director. I've been playing around with a few ideas and trying to write a few scripts but nothing has really hit me as something i would like to put my name on and submit in a film festival. so I am coming to you guys. I am basically just curious as to what you would want to see as a movie. I know it seems to be the time of Comic Book Heros and Video Game remakes, but I know this isn't what you all want to see...so if you have a great idea for a film. or you just want to tell me that you would love to see a horror flick, all comments will be taken seriously.
To all the pms out there, if you have a great idea for an ARG, I would love to maybe correspond a movie with your game...or make a movie ABOUT your game....
If you have an idea and are interested in working WITH me on a script then please pm me...i am interested.
also, if we want to piece all of our minds together and come up with a project right here on this thread, that would be amazing...but mostly i just want to know what you guys think....thanks alot, i look forward to hearing from you.
if you don't want to post you uber ideas publicly, just pm me..or email me at brett.nielsenSPLAT gmail.com
thanks again
brett

The movie that has affected me most in the last 5 years was The Ring. It was classic Hitchcockian horror - almost all psychological - and I was jumpy for WEEKS afterwards. And this is coming from a die-hard Stephen King fan. I also like M. Night Shyamalan's movies, which are psychological as well. I'd love to see more movies where the horror happens in your brain rather than on the screen.

the ring didnt really do it for me, but i know what you are talking about, although i think Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2005) is the scariest movie ever, i love psychological horror so much more than blood and gore horror....
heh i just watched Ring 2....zzzzzzzz....i just cant find those movies scary

Where your handle is from, a heck of a book which was slated to become a movie. Neuromancer.
seriously, some movies that affected me of psychological, always loved Blair Witch. which is ironic as the Blar Waitch producer is an ARG PM as well.
manhunter, definitely better on the creepy side than silence of the lambs.
el topo: a simple mindbender.
and sooner or later, sin-jin smyth.

Rome! Rome Rome Rome Rome ROME!!!!!!
I've been dying to see an historically accurate rendition of Rome....but, I think that might be out of your budget (although, off the top of my head, I can think of two or three stories that wouldn't require much set production or special effects).
I've always got story ideas, but really it's up to you - what type of movie do *you* want to make?

a good story is a good story, i dont care what genre it is. I mean i know i dont want to be making music videos or skate videos...but y'know...i dunno i started out writing ideas for a quazi-actionesque type movie with some pencil art included...still kind of working on that...but loosing interest...alot of stuff has been pointing me in the direction of a horror. i have one good idea for a horror movie that i know i would like to film...and thats what it is about, what i want to film.
I was talking with NightmareTony on AIM last night and mentioned starting something up where everyone can get together to share/work on ideas together. i think the outcome of something like that would be amazing. i dont know what the interest level for something like that would be though.
tao, i would love to hear your ideas with the easy...lower budget sets. i dont think i would be able to pull of a rome movie, yet...but maybe in time.
later days

:edit: a Neuromancer film just may be cool...i acually looked into this more and have decided this is something i dont want to do...a cool idea but done already ie)Johnny Mnemonic, which didnt fare so well..and also The Matrix which now has a religious following, but while i was looking into this i was thinking about House of Leaves....but i dunno if i should touch that...it would make a sweet movie though

ah, but would you make the film shot by the family? or a film of the documentary of the family? or a film about the documentarian? or a film about the people reading about the documentary of the film of the family? (etc.?)

I'm thinkin' all Johnny, all the time. And how his mind sees the documentary as he reads through the old man's stuff.

MAtrix wasnt it. A kung fu movie with religious and technological overtones and stealing wholesale from Seven Samurai.
A movie true to Neuromancer would be far better, imho.

exactly...he buys the place...comes across the documents..and starts reading...then the film sees what he is reading...
to be 100% honest, i havent read it read...just been to the forums and researched it a bunch on the net...i ordered it off amazon and it should be here tomorow. i think it would be so much fun to film though..i would want to keep true to the creative genius of the book...there would be possibilites for a sequel or sequels...but this is jumping to far ahead...but they would be about the mother..and her letters...and how she came to be in an asylum...maybe i should try and talk with Mr. Danielewski about this, how would i go about doing this? haha im in a very excited state right now...so i'll leave it at that for now...im enjoying the feedback though

"Stealing wholesale from Seven Samurai" is sort of a funny way of looking at it. That movie was the freaking origin of so much stuff that's used in hero/action/comedy stories to this day.
Goodness, remind me never to write anything resembling star-crossed lovers, or perhaps anything to do with mistaken identities, gender-bending, or legal hijinx, or I might be accused of stealing wholesale from Shakespeare.
Who, of course, never stole from anyone else.

Make sure that there are no swords, either. That's all Shakespeare.
