[SPEC] Cartoons There's been some discussion as to why the Sentinel uses cartoons instead of photos. But now, Scarlett's blog has cartoons as well, and one of them is called "small_photo.gif". Now look at the image on the postcard. Doesn't really look like a photo, does it? Maybe that really is how stuff looks in the Perplex world.

If that's what things really look like there, are we looking for a few cartoon characters with a metal cube?

Somebody mentioned how the use of cartoons was inconsistant with the Ceretin ad, however my 2c are that there may be some laws restricting photography in the press.
OOG, it's probably just to keep it 'mysterious' and uncertain of who the people really are.

Boo.
I'm sure we'll find out in due time. I reckon there's a law on putting personal photos on the internet over there; or any photos, not drawings, that can identify someone.

it would seem that there is nothing out of game anymore -- its all in-game or all meta
no difference between the two

Ah c'mon. That's just a trick to make it slightly more credible. Make the PM's in game... it's a nice idea.
/me is ingame. w00t!

I disagree with this interpretation. The only person I saw mentioned as being in-game is Adrian, so we can assume the PMs are "in-game." But that doesn't include this forum, the primer, the blog guide, the wiki or the chat room, among other things. So, for example, we wouldn't expect to see any PM or character posting here or appearing in our chat rooms.
As for the cartoons, that is fun to spec about isn't it.

It's said that the whole world is in game because the PM's are writing the story so that the happenings actually seem real. Their way of doing this is to make themselves in-game characters. Therefore, in this logic, the Cube is supposed to be real, Perplex City is real, and so the entire world is in-game. All good fun.

It's possible that thier cartoons are like our reality, but that's highly unlikely in my mind.

I propse a theory on the topic of the cartoons.
if everyone and everything is in-game -- because, lest we fForget, this is not a game -- then to show photos of people fFrom the perplex city world would require taking an *actual* photo of them. Not a photo of an actor playing the part of them. them. in the fFlesh. the honest to god image of the people. Like dinah. remember dinah? some people walked up and shook her hand. that was dinah. I've seen a picture or two of adrain hon as well. everyone we are reading about is real.
except, some of them are characters in a story. so taking a photo violates simple physics. but we .. we .. we really really need photos of these people. sooo, ok, so we have some paintings. they are real live paintings of real live people who really exist.

Just suppose their world is 2-dimensional....
maybe that is why the cube is such an object of reverence.....
