[INFO] SD Card files

Some of the files are available with the password Ian provided - iJ2vH7pD5qV1gZ3dV1gQ3aA6hZ5. Some look like possible puzzles, others look like they're there just for flavor.

022205.wav

It's German, but it's really hard to understand. I'm not really the best at understanding spoken German so this is mostly not right, but possibly close Wink - anyone here a native speaker?

The list sounds like the list of castles mentioned in the email from the same date...

As you requested, I've attached a list of castles that you should definitely see during your visit. You didn't mention where you were staying initially so I did not put them in any particular order. You'll probably want to use a map to plan your route accordingly.

Enjoy our beautiful country!

Mondays seem even worse when you are away from home to start with. Knowing that

I have another week or so of this is enough to make me pull the covers up over

Subject: Wednesday – Headed Home!

My car was acting funny today, so I guess I need to take it to the garage soon. Our mechanic is over in the next town though so I need to make an appointment first.

Denise called around 10:00, right as I was walking into a meeting. She said it was urgent but it turned out to be nothing after all. It's hard to believe she still doesn't trust me out on the road, after all these years. Wait until I get home.

Ran a red light by mistake earlier, while I was still angry about that phone call. Every time I do that I get caught but I guess today was my lucky day. No one was around to see it so I got away with it this time. No sense pushing my luck though. I'd better start slowing down.

There is a flash file that contains:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The words FEAR, HOME, MESA, MOUSE and a line with several arrows underneath

So far this is what I've managed:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Arranging the words on the line into the order MESA, FEAR, HOME, MOUSE makes the arrows spell out the phrase 'safe house'. The remaining letter spell out 'mear memo', but I don't know if that means anything

Contains a flash file, if you click down the little gap in the houses it starts a panorama that you can look around. There's a portion which is just black and white stripes, seemingly.. not sure if there's anything in this or not.

This is what I make of the list. The ones in italics are definitely castles:
Quote:

Hoxberg
Budingen
Eidenberg
Lutetsburg
Lichtenstein
Bentheim
Beverungen
Burgk
Desenberg
Vishering

here's where I did my research - it's got links to a lot of the castles

The answers to the maths homework are, in order:

32, 31, 10, False, 2, 30, no, no, odd=3, even=7, 11, 133, 95, 138

This could well be spelling out some form of code or reference number (or whatever), and working on the assumption that the 'no' and 'false' values are boolean, that would make the sequence of digits:

323110023000371113395138

Might well be nothing at all, but I suppose it's better to have it handy just in case than to not.

EDIT 2:

In reference to the castles, if Eidenberg is actually Heidelberg, that's a castle, and there is a castle called Hofberg in Austria, although I don't know whereabouts.

Looking at several of the castles (lichtenstein, heidelberg, beverungen, and bentheim) it seems they're all western Germany, ranging from the south-west, through the Rhineland, and then up into Lower Saxony.

That voice doesn't sound at all real... but it's probably just me.

I think it's synthesized using Text-To-Speech (TTS) software.

But... why? I thought this was supposed to be a phone call? Why does he speak English at the start? Does text to speech software do accents like that?

Text-to-Speech would be the most efficient means of hiding what your voice sounds like if for some reason you need to be anonymous. It wouldn't be too hard to set it up over a phone.
