In today's Washington Post (not available to link yet) - I will summarize.

Yes, it's a promotion for the Maryland Lottery. People in cow suits have been wandering about in public places, handing out cowbells - on Metro, around the University Maryland, at bars and malls. (One bar bouncer wrote at the bovineunite.com blog that the result was a bar full of drunken frat boys yelling "this bar needs more cowbell!" all night).

Briefly suspected - Dana Lyons, the one who wrote "Cows With Guns" (quoted near the beginning of this thread). PETA denied responsibility as well. But now the Maryland Lottery has fessed up.

Tonight's lottery ads will feature cows pranking humans. (Human tipping?) As the article concludes: "And it behooves us to say: You herd it here first." Razz

The newspaper had a screencap from the site and a pic of a guy in a cow suit doing pushups. They left them out of the linked article...

NBC4 in NYC

Nothing cow related to report. Blah.

And they made me watch Will and Grace. In fast forward, but still.

8:55pm just following Will and Grace on NBC, WBALT. Cow commercial. House broken into, cows climbing stairs, udders a-wiggle, enter bedroom, tip over bed containing stunned man. Cows shown driving away. Cowbell enters screen with imprint:

"See the rest of the story: www.letyourselfplay.com Maryland Lottery"

Ta da!

EDIT to add: I am in Maryland, so that probably increased my chances of seeing the commercial Wink Also, I think it leads up to the "Bovine Bucks" new scratch off tickets where you can win $1,000 by revealing a "MOOOO"

Hot damn.
