[SOLVED] matthewsmath.pdf {SD 1/family/matthewsmath.pdf}

concrete peanut posted:

Quote:
The answers to the maths homework are, in order:

32, 31, 10, False, 2, 30, no, no, odd=3, even=7, 11, 133, 95, 138

This could well be spelling out some form of code or reference number (or whatever), and working on the assumption that the 'no' and 'false' values are boolean, that would make the sequence of digits:

323110023000371113395138

Might well be nothing at all, but I suppose it's better to have it handy just in case than to not.

Isn't a number missing?

The first question in part 3 has two answers so I think the part 3 answers should be 2,10,30,NO which makes the whole thing:

32311002103000371113395138

If I'm full of it, please tell me!

Other alternatives

I was wondering if it's worth finding solutions to these problems in anything other than base 10, eg. the solution for the first problem can be solved in base 8, base 9, base 10, or hex.

Also, I notice a very interesting pattern to the numbers thrown up:

Part 1:
40 + ___ = 72
104 -73 = ____
42 + 74 - 106 = ___

lines one-three have these patterns:
40, __, 42
__, 104, 106
72, 73, 74

If you count "Part 1:" as line 1, and ignore blankspace lines, you get:

1: text
2: 40, 72
3: __, 73
4: 42, 74
5: text
6:
7: text
8: 46, ___
9: ___, 79
10: 48
11: text
12: 50, 82

thereafter, it breaks down, and I don't get anymore sequential matches. You do get more 50, then 51, and later on 51, then 53, though.

corrections

part 6, exercise 2 should be 134, not 133.

part 3, exercise 1 has an infinite number of possible answers. 2,10 is just one possibility.

Ooops, sorry for missing the '10' and messing up '134' - teach me to rush maths when I'm tired, I supposed.

As to the fact that 2 and 10 are only two possible answers out of an infinite set, this is true, but I doubt very much that what appears to be junior maths would expect any answers other than 2 and 10.

Biggie on the stolena3.com forum has pointed out that the homework was done on 11th March, which is the same night that Gunter bluetoothed the cars.

There are 6 parts to the homework, and i think (from looking at the Emdem security footage) that Gunter put information in 6 cars. Could it be possible that the homework is referring to the cars? I have absolutely no idea how, but might be more than conincidence

Check your work Periodically

I always thought that meant to check the answers periodically.

Apparently, it means check the homework, itself, periodically.

Thus,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you look up each number on the periodic table, and just "color" the number in, on the table, the questions for each part spell out a letter. Put all 6 letters together, and you get: HIDDEN.
