Crab Population Recovers.. ?? what have crabs and there population have to do with anything?

Since when is the english language 99% capitalised? and if so why would you bother about the other 1% why not make it all capitised. Only one word out of all them wasn't.

in area's like Baltimore MD in the US this is news worthy ironicly a simisar story ran here about the same time that ran in the sentinel, the blue fin crab are a major part of the local enconmy in Baltimore.

And as for the 99% capitalization that what you do in Titles and Headlines every word is typicaly capitalized except; in a an of the it ...etc. unless they're the first word.

Location: In a bunker ... a very deep safe bunker

I think someone mentoined this a while ago, bu I'm starting to see a lot of paralles in the PC news, and the news I see in headlines. Michael Jackson/Michael Corolla trial, opening up the Artic National Wildlife Refuge/Northside Preserve, crabs in PC and Maryland. Could just be a coincidence. And I agree it is odd that a protestor praised police action supressing the protest. While the police action may not have been totally legal ( in U.S anyway), it is definitely somthing I can see the police here doing. (I love that the PMs now have has debating human/assembly rights.) Anybody tried asking scarlett or the Sentinel about other cities/places? They have a foreign affairs section, there must be other locations . . .

Couldn't see this anywhere else....

Quote:
Professor Sedgewick is Senior Fellow of the Department of Languages at the Academy. She has a long and colourful history of civil disobedience, including a notorious incident in 248 in which her students organised a public foreign-language debate over the environmental policies of the Council on the steps of City Hall as their final project.

If a foreign-language debate were to be held in the UK/US i seriously doubt it would be tagged a "notorious incident".

From this it sounds like Perplexians are very resistant to alternate cultures, and this seems to fit the general picture of Perplex City that's being built (limitations of Sentinel subscriptions, dislike of us earth-folk etc).

Still not quite sure how this helps us find the cube though Dunno

In the UK, I am pretty sure this type of arrest would be illigal
the Human Rights Act specifies the right to assembly.
Also, it specifies the right to a 'private (and family) life' - but if the Perplex city keys make a lot of information available, particularly about emotional state - surely, in the UK, this would also breach an individual's human rights??

There's also laws on the power of arrest, and the sharing of information. These are to protect the citizens. Seems as though in PPC there is not such a level of protection??

There are also these rights...
- freedom of thought, conscience and religion
- freedom of expression

Why do you conclude that the keys make any information about emotional state available? Why assume that the keys even measure emotional state?

The only place, afaik, that "emotional state" has been mentioned are the error logs. There are quite a few types of identification at Gatehouse 24 taking place:
- voice
- hand scan
- visual (cross reference surveillance footage)
- and some sort of badge

The emotional state is probably measured by some combination of biometrics scanning: amount of perspiration on the palm of hand, voice tone - maybe even heart beat etc. There is absolutely no reason to conclude that that kind of scanning is done by "the key". There is also absolutely no reason to conclude that the keys are even checked at Gatehouse 24 (they could be, but there is no evidence of that in the error log - unless the word "badge" is used as a substitute for "key").

Moreover, it is quite clear that Gatehouse 24 is an uber-secure place, and I think it'd be a little strange for them to rely on the keys as proof of id (think of how many secure places you cannot enter by simply flashing your ID card) - especially given that they have their own in-house security system installed (which is evidenced by the fact that the thieves "reprogrammed portions of the Academy's security systems, disabling three different forms of security without tripping warning alarms" on the night the Cube was stolen).

I think so far we can tell, with relative certainty, that the keys can serve as ID devices, credit/bank cards, and some sort of browsers - and that's about all. Everything else is highly speculative at this point Smile

Go to any newspaper website. They'll title their articles the same way. Important words get capitalized, non-important ones don't.

Quote:
There is a large Hospital around the corner from where I live and it is currently going through renovations and it hasn't been noted on the news.. and these are large renovations.. entire wards getting knocked down and rebuilt. The perplexcity hospital is just mulling it over - I think our friend Scarlett could probably write a more interesting piece.

Are you sure it hasn't been noted in the news? I bet everything I have in the bank (which, granted, isn't much) that your local newspaper has mentioned it. The more major the hospital, the bigger the news it is.

As with the crabs.. this paper isn't national geography =P

It doesn't have to be. The article wouldn't be a scientific look at crabs, it would be what the crab boom means for the industry, which may be vital to Perplex City's economic wellbeing. If there was a lobster shortage (or the end of one) in Maine, you'd definitely hear about it, especially if you lived in Maine.
