Thank you, y2kbozo. Clearly I am not actually qualified to attend the argfest-o-con (having stopped once my feeble thought that "maybe they are numbers" stumbled on all the 10's) but with friends like you they can't hide from me!

Don't feel too bad, I was right behind you. I got a liitle farther but I got stuck on insisting they must be base16 and ended up waking some poor stranger in Australia.

I will be at the Tuscany, with car and maps, but no idea where I'm going. I don't recommend riding with me.

Martha's Mystery Tour For those who asked. Here is what happened on Martha's Mystery Tour. Ask mottjr for pictures.
Konamouse arrived at the front of the Hard Rock shortly before 5p. About two minutes later she noted a young man in a white straw fedora walk up and seemed busy text messaging or playing a game on his cell phone. Kona respectfully waited until Diandra, CabalAgent23, and then about a minute after, danman_d, his dad, and mottjr arrived before sending danman_d to the "man in the hat" to deliver the coded message.
The result was for him to produce neon pink papers (hmmm...is this the same neon color as the neon note L3 placed at the LVCC??) leading us on our first mission:
Quote:
CHECKPOINT 1
THE YOUNG MAN IN THE WHITE HAT
You're here, and have been given this sheet as proof.
The mementos you acquire along your
journey are important. Don't lose them!
Quote:
CHECKPOINT 2
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A STAR, BABY
Let's face it, we all want to be rock starts, but some of us are forced to just hang out with the backstage crew. In order to do that, you just need one thing: a Backstage Pass . The only requireemnt to get one is that you be of age, or be with someone who is (ID required). What are you waiting for? Get inside and get what you deserve! Don't lose it!. BT, if you already have one, 4 minute penalty .
We cut through the center of the casino to the players card booth and konamouse got a card.
Quote:
CHECKPOINT 3
IT'S GONNA SMELL GREAT!
Got ot the pool. Retrieve the golden medallion at the bottom of the pool. Just kidding! Okay, for reals, let's put hat Pass to use. On the back, space and punctuation don't count:
5, 48, 106, 6
36, 3, 106, 26, 105
Find it, then score a book of freebies . Come on baby, light my fire.
Kona counted out the letters and the message spelled Cuba Libre. That's the name of the cigar bar on the other side of the casino. While we were counting, we sent danman_d over to figure out the next checkpoint.
Quote:
CHECKPOINT 4
THE COMMITMENTS DUG IT
You're almost there! Find the Soul Case. The artist you need is neither tempting, green, supreme nor smokey.
Add 3514856653 . Time to phone home.
En mass a group goes into the Cuba Libre store and asks for matches. The lady behind the counter has a few questions for us. Turns out that their matches are also an item on the HR's new employee scavenger hunt. She asks what we are going to do with them. We don't know. Maybe use the phone number inside (or outside)? Or maybe they are just a souvenir? We tell her that we were looking for a book of freebies and she suggests the Sundry store for the coupon book. Whoops, she must have been talking to Martha, that was a red herring.
Initial danman_d translates "James Brown" into numbers and we try adding them to our string - too many for a phone number. Then, the queen of phone puzzles that she is, Diandra whips out her cell and finds the letters and the correct number: 5263727696.
First attempt and kona is instructed to "not carry the one" and we get a wrong number. Second try, danman_d does indeed carry the one and the toll-free phone call message tells us that there is a table waiting for us at the Hard Rock Cafe. Yay to danman_d; he gets an "A" in math today.
Danman_d is declared the winner of Martha's Mystery Tour and gets an ARG T-shirt and free dinner. Thanks vpisteve!
As a funny aside. While we were in the Cuba Libre store, mottjr took a picture or two. As kona walked out, a passerby (young 20's-something girl) who had noticed the flash, excitedly asked "who's picture was just taken?" (Obviously on a celebrity prowl). Kona calmly replied "Mine" with a cute little smile and walked off in the other direction. Okay, guess you had to be there, but it was funny at the time.
Ask mottjr for the pictures associated with this little adventure.
