does anyone even know if the person who sent it to her is on this board? if not, that could mean a clue. if he is on this board, then we can stratch out that idea.
Good point - it might explain why it looks the way it does. To be honest (and I'm really not meaning to offend if it was anybody on the board!) we've got enough spec to fill our time without spending ages devising pretty pictures that serve no purpose but to look cool and get Scarlett's attention! (and it is v pretty) No offense at all intended, am really really sorry in advance. Wouldn't one of us have said we were going to do it? Plus somebody would have said "it's ok, I did it, it's not meant to be a clue" because they would know how suspicious we are of anything posted on either SK or the Sentinel
Again, really really sorry if anyone did do it, it's lovely, sorry

You need the Perplex city highlighted so you can tell exactly what it's saying. Just cut out that part of the picture and you probably wouldn't be able to tell what it was without someone telling you.

exactly, it's highlighted there in red like that because that's 'Perplex City' highlighted...! There's no reasoning behind the highlight except to draw your attention to the phrase that was made into the ambigram, to see the start and end - P to y...
flip it upside down if you like, but you'll then be starting in the middle of the phrase, which is why it looks like 'type rplexci'... because you're actually viewing 'ty Perplex Ci' of the ambigram... that's all it is

You are probably right and that is all it is, but it is technically not an ambigram of perplexcity; it is an ambi of perplexcity and typerplexci. Could it have been done in other ways to produce that image (perplexcity and, say, lexcityperp)? Possibly. If so, is it then possible that it was done that way for a reason (other than design-related)? I think the possibility is strong enough to warrant me posting my thoughts. sheesh. You didn't need to get all sarcastic about it and slap me around with a fish...
p.s. - i know that typerplexci is inherent in perplexcity, but that doesn't mean that they didn't decide to attach a clue to that fortunate happenstance after the fact. it doesn't mean they did, either...
[EDIT: removed spoiler tags. Guys, please try not to spoiler things that don't contain puzzle solves or other SPOILERS. Thanks. yanka.]
[re: EDIT: sorry! i spoilered it bc it was referencing something previously spoilered. Wasn't sure of protocol. Bad newb. <slaps self>]

no you're right, good idea for bringing it up...
but really, I'm assuming it's 'typerplexci' because it's the easiest, if not the only, way to make an ambigram from perplexcity... goes the same for any similar puzzle out there... if there's a pattern you want to repeat which isn't directly flippable (like a palindrome), you'll find the first, usually the easiest, spot from which to start ...
given the string 'perplexcityperplexcityperplexcityperple...' flip it around, and find a way to make the upsidedown letters look like the original phrase... IMO, they were able to make it work starting from 'typerplexcityperplexcityperplexcityperple...'
is there a reason for starting at 'ty'? *shrug* maybe... but I highly doubt it... no harm in raising the spec though

That seems like the simplest explanation to me too.

next puzzle?
what was the first? I honestly can't say that I've seen a puzzle yet. (other than the postcards/clues at Abbey Rd.).
Maybe I should've said I haven't seen an online puzzle yet.

Guy called Brett I think from this blog entry we can deduce that "a Guy called Brett" is an Earthling trying to impress the lovely Scarlett with his Perplexcity related conundrums. All of Scarlett's posts are examples from Earth Media about Perplexcity. It's definitely not an in game puzzle, it's just interesting. The point of Scarlett's site, as far as I can see, is for us to befriend a Perplexian and get inside information, little things about Perplexcity life that we might not be able to deduce from other sources. Which is ok for now, after all she is the only person so far to respond to our attempts at contact! It's a start!
We shouldnt fret to much about anything appearing on the Scarlett Kite, there wont be any puzzle type clues as such. It's more of a human angle thing! Remember, this is going to be HUGE. There's many dozens of relevnt domains bought up for this game and I am fairly confident that most, if not all of them will be in game. So we can relax a little and make freinds with this delightful perplexian, and see what happens from there.

The Brett could be Brett James Gilbert, he has a great site on ambigrams and explains the whole red-highlighting thing in his Graham ambigram http://www.55cards.com/ambigrams/
