ourcolony.net, colony organization

This is primarily a post for the gamem8ker, but he probably won't listen unless the masses agree with me so please support by replying.

I am the leader of the colony "Source Code". We are trying to promote unity within our ranks. To do this we run a private forum to collaberate on challenges and to organize our colony. We are having a problem though. Our forum is not exanding past our core members because it is hard to give new recruits more than a webpage (www.ourcolony.net) and our team number. To also give them the address of our forums is just too much. Our "ant" symbols around our school and town only include the website and our code. What would be really helpful is if on the ourcolony.net website on our teams page there was a "colony news" box that the colony leader could post into. Then I could direct all of my fellow colony members to our forum and thus be more organized and work more like a colony should. I know this would probably be some significant coding, but there are plenty of people to help. If you, the gamem8ker, are interested in this idea but do not have the resources, put forth a message and from the community will come an answer. I am willing to bet there are people out there that know cgi, perl, java or what ever serverside scripting language you are using and are willing to help. Thanks for your time.

Please support and pass this message on to other forums online that gamem8ker could watch. I think this is a very good idea and if you disagree, I would love to hear your reasoning.

I would also bet that these people would love to leave a back door for themselves and be able to hack the place beyond recognition.

All good webmasters know how much information to give to those helping.

Besides, those that are good enough to do what you suggest, are also good enough to do it without a backdoor. The coding on the site isn't as secure as you think (this I derived through my knowledge of general programming, not a fact).

The general idea of my post is "organization", not hacking. Thanks for the input though. Since, as most of us think, this is from microsoft, they should be able to handle my request fairly easily.

I also feel I am somewhat ignorant in my idea of reaching into the community. The coding gamem8ster has done thus far on the site is far greater then the coding required for my suggestion.

If it is M$ promoting OC, then it's full of holes anyway (just like IE Razz)

And you could just tell the person what language to write the program in, then have it sent in. Someone could then read through/scan the code, making sure that it's safe to upload before putting it online. It would make more sense to write it in-house though, just to be safe. I think outsourcing this kind of thing in such a large community is just asking for trouble.

That said, I think that the idea is a good one. I also think that there should be a memberlist viewable by all colony members. Nothing fancy, put it onto a blank, unformatted page if necessary to cut down on bandwidth usage. But I believe that this would also help to organise the communities better.

Edit: For some reason I have a feeling that this makes little to no sense, is it just me?
/me is getting paranoid in his young-age Razz
