IRC Technical Problems - Could someone help? Hey, I'm into Perplex City, been trying to connect to the IRC servers but can't get on - has everyone moved to a different server?

Right - full update if anyone can help me:
1) I cannot access the SERVER irc.chat-solutions.net:6667 (I was able to day before yesterday). No error message just "* Disconnected"
2) If I try to access foshizzle.ca.us.hub.chats-solutions.org:6667 or the other one, an error comes up of: "* Firewall: Connection rejected" - I am on a university campus, this is NOT my firewall (i tested it switched off), so maybe theirs?
3) I can access every other bloody chat server ever created... That confuddles my greatly...
Could someone with IRC knowledge give me some ideas?
Cheers
Jeb

It sounds like you have a proxy server incorrectly setup in your setting.

Nope, it worked then suddenly didn't... Remember that I can access other servers, just not that one... I'm presuming the proxy is working...
/me checks the proxy
Nope, that's fine, so not that
Any other ideas?

Well you wouldn't get a firewall: connection rejected from a server side error, thats a local error. Um..lets see...try maybe on of the eu servers? Is it possible that your college has banned *chat-solutions.org ?

You might try just the straight irc.chat-solutions.org (not net) instead of the foshizzle one. That should connect you to the best available server.

I've been having similar problems for the past day, with other servers as well. It looked like a DNS lookup problem on my end, so I just connect to chat-solutions directly with IP address 69.28.250.199 (port 6667) instead of any domain name. This works for me. (I just wish I knew the IP address of DorksNet)

It is very odd, I connected for a couple of seconds, but it's now gone again... Really odd...

Are you using mIRC, or what? If so, does it do the same thing for you when you use one of the java IRC applets at ARGN or unfiction??

Yep that's on mIRC, but on the java applet it just can't connect (keeps saying disconnected)

Hey, just to update, my IRC has just messed up entirely, seems like it's now effecting the whole campus, not really sure what's happening, some people can access, some can't, and some get randomly disconnected without any particular reason. Ah well, I guess this topic is to be locked, and I am not able to access IRC

Hmm, I'm really thinking it's a university firewall issue at this point.
As a last resort, you could try running mIRC through http tunnel.

Hah, i tried http-tunnel thingy, but as i'm sure some people (tanner-corsair) saw JebJoya, Jebby and JebHelp all trying to join at the same time... I might still be connected there, I'm not sure, but a little worried..
Hey ho... Time to shout at the network supervisors here then
