Mars+King = Marsking
- vowels = Mrskng
+ numbers = ?
So is the Merzkeen now Mrsking? The star people aren't talking about a race called the Merzkeen, they are talking about the Mrsking!!
What numbers would be related to Simon?

A different name Since the "R" was used for the king, I don't think that "king" is the correct word to be using here. I'm looking for other words for king that start with R.
As for the numbers.. the only ones that I could think of are his ID numbers... 6676 or something like that? I'll double check that though.

King in French is 'Roi' hence they use the letter R on their King playing cards. So this would suggest that this is a picture of a French playing card; whether that's anything to do with the puzzle I have no idea.

Good call! Here's a page with an image like the one on the card:
http://a_pollett.tripod.com/cards21.htm
Edit: It also says the king of clubs is named ALEXANDRE in the French set.

Mars + (Alexander)= MarsAlexander
- vowels = Mrslndr
+ numbers = ?
Mrslndr? I don't know. I still think Mrskng applies better to the story so far.
But what are the code numbers for the Spirit and Opportunity marslanders? What year did they land? 2004? 2003?

lurker here,
wouldn't the planet Mars also be called Ares, the god (Roman or Greek, i always mixed those up)?
What are clubs called in French (assuming the Roi is a French king of clubs)?

Nice work.
So, this whole MarsKing thing is really interesting to me. I think that is who our "Merzkeen" are, or, more correctly, is.
Is Simon the Mars King? Or at least in his own mind? And if so, how is he related to the story of the Star People?

Good solve!
I think MarsKing is probably how we should have spelt Merzkken (I did just make that up for a transcription... And I was listening to Merzbow at the time, so...) - and to start with we thought one of the words said King.
But it's a weird name. I'm gonna spec that they were the original "life on Mars" - which they destroyed. It would make sense (sort of) of the very original email which opened this game.
Anyway, whos working on the images? There are clearly two puzzles, the bits that go together from the jpg's and the blackbird picture (it is the same blackbird as on the Gas Mask by the way...)

OK, not sure if we want to start a new thread for these or what.

Dear Distinguished Customer,
I am positively swelling with pride at moment for I am able to tell you that, with only the tiniest of reservations, we were able to procure every single item on your list. The eight scale model beasts of burden were no problem. We have found eight painstakingly carved models that were made by true masters of the craft. These masters are from all over the world and are the most respected carvers in their respective areas. Each one has been crafted in their maker's own unique style but none of them will clash when you put them on display.
The antique 2030's humidifier is slightly battered but is in perfect working order. We're afraid that, in order to keep it in tip top shape, you will need to supply it with several materials that we cannot transport to your stellar home in sufficient quantities: these materials are banned from being transported in the quantities you will require. You will need to supply C,H,F,O,P (but not in those amounts) from your own resources. The included instruction manual will tell you the exact proportions.
I must also say, good sir, that we have even surprised ourselves in our exhaustive search. The next item you asked us for turned out to be of a much earlier make than we expected! It appears that "erector sets" were still in manufacture as early as sixteen years ago! We have obtained a complete set for you, and will ship it directly along with your other items. I will now see just how soon we can arrange for these items to be shipped to you.

Actually, I agree - Jumped too fast before, and I've just listened to the latest transmission again, and it really would be a stretch to hear it is "Mars King".
I also think Simon is way too obvious to be the Merzkeen. I'm still sticking with Charlie! Beth has shown herself capable of sending emails from several different mail accounts (via Charlie) so it is certainly possible that she has put these files in Simons account.
