[AIM] Invasion of the time travellers?

a676 F64: Hey, who's this?
NightmareTony: me,and you are?
a676 F64: Why should I tell you? You're the one who jumped on my freq.
a676 F64: You're the third one today.
NightmareTony: nope you threw me an accept. some aim wierdness.
NightmareTony: unless this is an arg, in which case, am interested.
a676 F64: Sorry...could you say that again? "AiM"
a676 F64: ???
a676 F64: Also, you're going to have to speak up...there's a lot of static.
a676 F64: And I'm not too familiar with bin
NightmareTony: Ah, you are in via radio then.
a676 F64: Lucky I have this translator...no one comms in bin nowadays
a676 F64: What in the hell is radio?
NightmareTony: fair enough.
NightmareTony: radio, a system of vibrational frequencies in the subspace ether to transmit information.
a676 F64: Where you coming out of?
NightmareTony: earth. where would you be?
a676 F64: Funny stuff, wiseguy...I would, of course, be on earth.
a676 F64: I mean where are you coming out of?
NightmareTony: in a campaign, this is not necessarily true. That is why I asked.
a676 F64: The outlands?
a676 F64: Judging from your comm setup, it would have to be pretty primitive
NightmareTony: pretty much. coyotes how at night and it is so dark, one must use a lantern in their shack to walk around at this tiem of night.
a676 F64: I like you...I think your nick should be wiseguy
a676 F64: coyotes? Where are you seeing coyotes?
NightmareTony: not until we understand each other. Anbd I was not beibng a wiseguy, I was being literal there.
a676 F64: They've been extinct for thirty years
NightmareTony: not here they are not.
NightmareTony: where are you at, what location land wise?
a676 F64: I live up in the Brigs (ax sector)...
NightmareTony: AAh. Now we are getting somewhere. A different mode of geographical notation than over here./
a676 F64: Apparently
NightmareTony: Let me try the time wherewhithal, can I ask what year it is?
a676 F64: Are you insane?
NightmareTony: No. Please humor me.
a676 F64: 2052
a676 F64: Oh yeah, before I forget, tell me how you jumped my freq without being invited.
NightmareTony: AAh, now I see. Its an overlap. Time-wise, we are on diffrent planes. I would predate you by 46 years.
a676 F64: Come again?
NightmareTony: That would explain about the coyotes. In my place and time, they are alive and well. A neighbor has one as a pet. Your location also is different from this time. At my time and place, it would be called California.
NightmareTony: I wont pretend to understand how we are talking in this method, but I suspect this frequency overlap is involved.
a676 F64: This must be some sort of gag. Jonesy, quit messing around.
NightmareTony: Not a gag.
a676 F64: You're the third wiseguy to mess with my head today
NightmareTony: Power of 3? How long as it been since the 1st?
a676 F64: 29 days.
NightmareTony: ok, so every 10 days...hmmm....10 x 240....240 hour intervals of addition....
NightmareTony: since this would be the 30th day.
a676 F64: Mind telling me what you're getting at?
NightmareTony: I am wondering, if the first voice was 30 days ago, was the second 10 days ago and me right now?
a676 F64: No, as I've said before: you're the third guy today.
NightmareTony: Ah, the same day. That is today, but what was 29 days ago, what was different?
a676 F64: Okay, I'm lost at this point. All I know is you're the third guy to jump my freq undetected, and tell me that he's from the past.
NightmareTony: Can I ask for the names of the other 2? I may know them or can help figure this out.,
a676 F64: One who called herself Sara, and the other Rich
NightmareTony: Ah. I do not know Rich, but would Sara call herself SaraKiddo?
a676 F64: No
NightmareTony: ok. that is one Sara I know.
a676 F64: So, you claim to be contacting me from the year 2005?
NightmareTony: I dont claim. you contacted me in my own time, yes.
a676 F64: What's it like?
NightmareTony: Many different places and things. I like a sedentary rural life.
a676 F64: Why?
NightmareTony: it is my nature. I have done many things. loved many.
a676 F64: I see.
a676 F64: You realize I still don't believe the lot of you, right?
NightmareTony: I dont blame you. You will have to judge for yourself what is real and what is not.
a676 F64: You also realize I'm going to be more upset if I find out who is messing with me, rather than if you just tell me right now.
NightmareTony: Correct. But there is no one messing with you.
a676 F64: Your sig doesn't have a trace-back.
a676 F64: At all.
NightmareTony: no, because I have a different communication mode than you.
a676 F64: Back in the old days of war, my father used to tell me that using outdated technology to be untraceable was a common offensive tactic.
NightmareTony: Correct. it also depends on being traceable to where. different equipment shows differently.
a676 F64: All comm traffic is monitored by UEO...they have emulated comm equipment of old, to keep an eye out for people doing just what you're doing...I'd be careful, if I were you.
a676 F64: What you're doing is very, very illegal.
NightmareTony: In your world and time, maybe. In my time and world, it is very common.
a676 F64: You're serious, aren't you?
NightmareTony: Why should I not be?
a676 F64: Point taken.
a676 F64: So what's your name?
NightmareTony: Tony. My name should have appeared on your system there.
a676 F64: Nothing but a bunch of numbers; each sig is cataloged by a sequence of numbers.
NightmareTony: Ah. yours comes out as a set of random numbers here. Mine reads perfectly on my side, so there is a communications gap in all this.
a676 F64: You're communications are coming through as a series of clicks and beeps...but I have an interpreter that converts it back into a something understandable.
NightmareTony: Ah, an audio translator. I get it now.
a676 F64: You're a strange one.
a676 F64: I'm Decks, by the way.
NightmareTony: Tony
a676 F64: Yeah...I got that the first time.
a676 F64: Funny that you mention California.
a676 F64: California sank in the year 2030.
NightmareTony: Live while you can, when you can. In my time and place, it is quite dry. Was always afraid of drowning, though. future foretell for me?
a676 F64: Yeah.
a676 F64: Well this has been an interesting day...
NightmareTony: Agreed.
a676 F64: I'm......not really quite sure what to say, here.
NightmareTony: Its not something either of us understand, nor where it will be or for much longer. We may lose contact, or it may stay on.
a676 F64: Last chance, Jonesy.
a676 F64: Is this really you?
NightmareTony: tghere is no jonesy here. There is simply me.
a676 F64: Well, I don't know how or if we're going to be able to get back in touch, assuming you are in fact where you claim to be from.
NightmareTony: Then be glad you had the time and can ponder what happened, and what it may mean.
a676 F64: Wooah
a676 F64: You and your friends are apparently making headlines.
NightmareTony: in what manner?
a676 F64: Apparently I'm not the only one who is experiencing what is being called, 'the invasion of the time travelers'
a676 F64: This is happening all over the network.
NightmareTony: Guess not. so there is something more happening.
a676 F64: Okay, cut the bullshit.
a676 F64: Who are you?
NightmareTony: I am who I told you. Thought we went through this before.

Currently talking with our good old friend from the future.

Got some good stuff coming up. Hopefully Wink

Edit - Talk just ended - rather abruptly. As always.

snorlison arg: Hello. How're you?
a676 F64: Tired...confused.
snorlison arg: Ah, makes sense.
snorlison arg: ...I'm sorry to say, but I doubt my prescence will do much to help your confusion.
snorlison arg: Seeing as I believe it's the date August 26th, 2005.
snorlison arg: What time is it where you are?
a676 F64: It is the year 2052
snorlison arg: Month? Day? What's on the news?
a676 F64: This has dominated the news...communications from the past...and now the future.
snorlison arg: Incredible.
snorlison arg: So, do you believe us past people yet?
a676 F64: I didn't before.
a676 F64: But now I have no choice.
a676 F64: It's happening everywhere.
snorlison arg: Perhaps this is an opportunity.
a676 F64: For?
snorlison arg: Change.
snorlison arg: Inform the past about what's going to happen.
a676 F64: But the future...
snorlison arg: Is where you are...
snorlison arg: Makes sense.
snorlison arg: You'd want to preserve the timeline that created you.
a676 F64: We didn't contact you, you contacted us.
snorlison arg: Well, I learned of you through Tony - so indeed, I contact you.
snorlison arg: But you should know that we, of the year 2005, have no ability to contact the future.
snorlison arg: And I would guess that your time doesn't either.
snorlison arg: So, what's ever causing these cross-temporal hijinx... maybe it's farther along than either of us.
snorlison arg: You mentioned communication with the future?
snorlison arg: What future are we talking here?
snorlison arg: 2070? 2100? 2552?
a676 F64: I don't know...I've only been able to decode bits and pieces of the transmissions.
snorlison arg: Why only bits and pieces? Are they deliberately protected, or is there just so much going on that's it's hard for you get anything done?
a676 F64: Our technology isn't capable of decoding all of it.
snorlison arg: Hmmm.
snorlison arg: Any thoughts on that inability?
a676 F64: The streams are too advanced to decode.
snorlison arg: Darn.
snorlison arg: I was just going to suggest that some of us aught-fivers have a go at it.
snorlison arg: I mean, assuming this isn't random, or some natural phenomena...
snorlison arg: Perhaps there's a reason 2005's been allowed to contact 2052?
snorlison arg: I sense I sound like I'm reaching a bit.
snorlison arg: There is something that sticks in my mind.
snorlison arg: I could still be alive in your time.
snorlison arg: And you mentioned war...
snorlison arg: What sort of war are we talking here?
a676 F64: Those were the wars of 2030
snorlison arg: Were they incredibly devasting?
snorlison arg: I keep thinking of the World Wars in mine... and I guess your history.
a676 F64 signed off at 10:17:33 PM.

Darn, I lost the link to the boco nice formatting software thingy. Any help in that department?

and I just got another...

a676 F64: okay, so maybe there's more to this than either one of us understand.
NightmareTony: True. guess it will be going for a while.
a676 F64: Are you religious?
NightmareTony: Yes and no. Not in the classical sense.
a676 F64: Do you believe things happen for a reason?
NightmareTony: Yes. I've had first hand experience in that realm many times.
a676 F64: I can't help but shake the feeling that...there's more to this. I mean a lot more.
NightmareTony: Agreed. Things do happen. and its not in a way we can explain by any logical reason. So we simply do as we need to and enjoy ourselves along the way.
a676 F64: Just today I received a comm from someone farther into the future.
NightmareTony: Ah. Not so much a fluke, and its not jonesy. Looks like you are going all ovetr the map these days!
a676 F64: Well...I wouldn't exactly call it direct communication...more like...more like I had tapped into a channel that I was listening to...but they couldn't hear me.
NightmareTony: and this is the first time now others can hear you.
a676 F64: My translation programs couldn't decode it all...the sequences were more advanced...
a676 F64: I suppose.
NightmareTony: semantic symbols of language. meanings.
NightmareTony: sometimes, it can be like a puzzle.
a676 F64: Yes.
NightmareTony: If there is traces of the past in books, look for one called Slaughterhouse Five. It is a story about a man who becomes unstuck in time. There mahny be some clues in there to help understand all of this.
a676 F64: You've read Kurt Vonnegut, huh?
NightmareTony: here and there.
NightmareTony: I read and learn many things.
NightmareTony: There are still books where you are at, or are they a diustant memory, like horses?
a676 F64: I know of books, but everything is digital now.
NightmareTony: ah. In this time, everythign is heading that way.

Interesting that Future Boy and I would both independently suggest that there was a reason for the things going on here.

Though I blamed it on people farther in the future, rather than on anything religious.

Ooh, ooh, so cool! And just when I won't be near a computer for another week Sad

Can we infer from the conversations so far that its all gone a bit tits up in fifty years then? There seems to have been a war, a big war... For whatever reason, along with who knows where else, California sank... Confused

Although the theory about a post-apocalyptic wasteland doesn't work either because technology development doesn't seem to have ceased. I think "we" (they? Damn temporal verb/ conjugation) won/came to some sort of agreement, and... I dunno, live in some sort of police state? Monitored by UEO, it seems very illegal to crank call people in the future.

I am confused, and intruiged. Can't wait for more... Damn holiday Razz

Hi, first post and everything... Very Happy

I googled "2052 UEO" and came up with this so I guess it's either connected to seaQuest DSV or ripping off content from it.

The first page says that seaQuest was changed to "seaQuest 2052" during its third season in which it got cancelled.
U.E.O stands for "United Earth Oceans Organization" - don't ask me why it's not called U.E.O.O. then - which are the good guys in the show if I see it correctly as opposed to what our friend from the future said? Not sure about that.

"Chicago sank in 2030" fits right into the whole story.

Anyways, the show doesn't seem to be that popular - watched it once or twice myself - given that nobody jumped on this so far. Wink
If you catch the guy again you might try some of the information from the episode guide. They probably revive the show...?

Intersting Abraxas I watched the show back when it originally aired in the 90's so i'd forgoten about it. Well if this is a SeaQuest ARG then you can defintly count me.
