[QUESTION] Predicting challenge releases

Does anyone have a fairly accurate record of when challenges have been released?

I ask, because I think it would make sense if gamem8ker made it possible to predict when new challenges were going to be released. Rather than everyone just staring at their computers all the time, a team that came up with an idea of when the next one came out, could coordinate to have the most colonists ready to attack any new problem.

While leaving us to monitor the site non-stop requires a degree of teamwork, I think coordinating a mass onslaught would do fairly well as an exercise in cooperation and teamwork as well.

personally, I just refresh the page every 5 minutes or so. And keep an eye on these forums. I think most people do the same kind of thing. It means that if and when a new challenge is released, I am usually able to get one guess in before it's solved.

That's my own strategy as well, but its definitely led to me being out for an hour or two, ie last night's (afternoons/morning for people in the US) and completely missing the challenge from post to solution.

To use a phrase I absolutely despise, "don't work harder, work smarter!"

just my .02 but i'm not really sure that one of the gamem8kers goals is to make things easier on the players.

i look at the semi-random timing of the puzzles as part of the challenge, and part of the game.

*shrug*

I didn't mean to suggest that predicting the release would be easy. Just that it might be more effective.

I actually hope that the release times are random, that means that no-one has an advantage (apart from people with a global community, like us Smile).

This means that no huge teams will be there as the puzzles are released, which makes it better for those poor folks on Dial-up to actually see the page.

So those are the biggest flaws with my theory. Unpredictable releases keep server more stable *big +* and encourage global communities, which we know the gamem8ker likes.

i was thinking about this today also. not that gamem8ker would want to make things easier on us, but it seems like the challenge posting would follow some algorithm that we'd have to figure out. just another way for him to integrate our solving skills into things.

This thread ahs reports on the same time 2 days in a row (4 pm GMT). That translates into:

12 pm Eastern
11 am Central
10 am Mountain
9 am Pacific

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=141632&highlight=gmt#141632

So I guess we should look for the challenge in about 45 minutes.

Well, the new one came up at roughly the right time to fit the pattern. Don't think it was exact, but somewhere around then.

I don't appreciate my thread being locked because it was too close to this one.

This thread has absolutly zero information on actual challenge times.

This thread discusses how it'd be important to know the challenge times. The thread i made actually just had information as to what times challenges started. It was going to only include that information, not discussion about it. This thread potentially could be pages long and trying to sort through it to find the info for all the challenge times would be very difficult.
