I think Virgil is manipulating Ian somehow myself.

Ian is really an alien, Virgil is turning into a bee, and Nisha will turn out to be the evil mastermind orchestrating the entire plot.

C'mon, we have to defend against the....guys....guys?

More like Gunter bought Ian with the whereabouts to priceless paintings, so Ian would be on Nisha's good side(if she has one). So now Ian has to track down what Gunter wants him too so he can get the paintings and so Ian will let Gunter out early. Ian is making us do the dirty work of cracking puzzles and what not so he can get these so called works of art and get with Nisha... and Virgil is interfering with Ian without knowing... and Virgil is really a cannibal and ate the drunk driver that killed Naoko. It all makes perfect sense. Twisted Evil
