First we must find out wtf this thing is...
someone with good photoshop skillz needs to find out the names on the batteries and the names on the chips and search them on the internet so we can find out wht we're dealing with. I really doubt its an xbox 2 cuz aaci would be a recent hardware company---i dunno just speculation i guess but someone do what i said above please and post results (i would have photoshop but 680 dollars is too much for me)
BTW i think that barcode is just what is a code. and i think tht there is a way to read it without going to 100's of stores looking for a match

that has to be it, it none of the blocks overlap, they're beside eachother...
Maybe there's some pice of software that'll let you use jpg to read barcodes, or maybe somone could print and put it through a scanner somewhere else, and see if it sipts up a number.

I think barcodes only mean something when you have something to reference them to...just a barcode on its own doesn't mean anything.

Hmm...seems a bit too complicated there if you ask me. I mean the previous challenges have been rather simple once you've finally found the answer, I don't think going to the trouble of creating a barcode and then scanning it is exactly what they're looking for.
I'm liking this 25 anniversary connection. Seems the most concrete so far. Although it's most likely that the aaci.com is a red herring.
I think it's definitely the white lines (or holes) that we should be paying attention to, why else would they be there?

Apologies for the double post, perhaps I should actually register an account.
I think the pianola idea could be on the right track. It seems to me like the one theory about the holes so far that seems plausible.

You don't need to scan a barcode to interpret it. Have none of you done PuzzleDonkey before? :p ( www.puzzledonkey.com )
One of the puzzles on that last year was to work out a barcode number...now if i can dig up the website i used to translate it then i may be able to do it. Of course though it all depends on whether its in a standard barcode form..with the centre pipes and the end pipes. I'll have a look around now.

again i say to you sir, punchcard punchcard punchcard
(although i have no way to back this up, as i have nothing that can read one.. but yes, i also concur that the piano music is as plausible an idea. music box too?)

Oh yeah you could work out the number couldn't u...*hit's himself*
But that would then be another code rather than an answer

Maybe....but I wouldn't have thought so but we'll see
I found this http://www.mailcci.com/direct-mail-tips/barcode_translator/ to translate barcodes, but it seems to say barcodes should have dots in them so maybe there's different kinds of barcodes or its not a barcode after all?
EDIT: this http://www.chienworks.com/barcode/barcode.cgi?code=3of9&numb=Joe seems to indicate there are different ways of reading a barcode

i think whatever's printed on the side of those capacitors is gonna be too blurred and obscured for even the most experienced photoshopper to decipher.
what's clearly legible is the '0' and '4' printed on the board, and the ACII.org marking at the top

To whoever made the barcode image...it would be extremely helpful if it was made bigger, and a vertical grid put across it with spacing equal to that of the thinnest bar, so you can judge how many empty "lines" there are between each black block. Thats assuming it IS a barcode anyway...hmm i think i might register on this site
