Barcode Scanner?

Maybe if we put everything together and look at a bigger picture, could this be the inside of a price scanner, such as one a Wal-mat or or such? Maybe it could be the inside of a cash register.

Cash Register

Yeah nothing on the register/scanner end. But, my other inkling was a CD-ROM from an old machine, but that turned up nothing. I'm running out of ideas. Hey Bonusuk, if you are still there, any ideas? Haven't heard from you in a bit.

those fans aren't heavy duty, when compared to the scale of the rest of the components there, but yeah, there'd be little need for cooling in a cash register.

i'm convinced it's something purpose-built (not necessarily a console, but something of that ilk), because of the notch in the pcb to accomodate the fans.

Barcode

Ok, many people have said that it is a barcode... What if it isn't a barcode but a bit stream for like a CD-ROM drive, a CD-Player, a DVD-ROM drive, DVD-player, etc...

Hey, it could be... javascript:emoticon('Rolling Eyes')

I think it has to be the date;

11/27/98 is the jpg file name

AACI was formed 11/27/73

25 year difference

Did AACI do anything on 25th anniversary?

Of course there could be more to 512 as well, hard to say what.

the id="solve" just means that if you don't have pictures turned on, it will display that word instead. In HTML it is known as an Alternate Tag

But in the <!-- --!> tag it will just be ignored, won't it?

<!-->

It's used for a hidden text, so since it is just calling javascript it doesn't need to show the code in there.

The <!-- --!> is added to the challenge page by server-side script when your colony has solved the challenge, making the submit box dissapear.

Not a clue.
