Hi, error, and welcome here!

Although I'm a newbie might I suggest splitting the general and updates section into 2 so it's easier to keep track of updates as they happen ? Laughing

I don't think that splitting up the forum will happen (and, on a personal note, it's not something that I would like to see done), but if you want to keep track of updates, use this: http://blog.unfiction.com/perplexcity/

Every update is (and will be) listed there, as well as links back to this forum - to individual threads that discuss each update. Hope that helps Smile

Thanks yanka|tage
Now for some lovely speculation:
Quote:
the Academy, working in conjunction with an Earth-based company, has received tens of thousands of volunteers to aid in the hunt for the Cube.
The earth based company may be the game sponsors and the volunteers people signing up to perplexcity.com as that's where the appeal to help is. Therefore I think we can expect an email. Especially with the spider/Charlottes web reference in The Futures. As the earlier post (and some forum user who's name I forgot) shows she used her web to communicate.
Quote:
some form of communication to a large audience of Earth inhabitants on Friday, April 22, at 3:00pm in "the London time district."
District instead of Zone or just GMT ? Greenwich is near Maze Hill station and a road called Maze Hill. It's not too far from the 'district' line. Nice and tenuous there ! I still think an email will be sent but just in case !

did anyone else see this as maybe an offering of help from Madame Bianca?

i don't know how we'd get in touch with her since she doesn't have an email address listed on the Sentinel's site. but it's just a thought. Rolling Eyes

Seriously...the new article has me angry. I wanna figure this damn thing out, and I'm pretty sure the article, combined with the futures, are telling us we're missing something.

Here are a couple things that I think we should think about:

1. Traversen - the name is used twice, once in the pre-game reference to "One Traversen Square" and once in the Academy Logo...

2. The fact that they corrected the logo in the Sentinel article tells me that we were focusing on the differences too much, and they're trying to steer us back the right way. Perhaps the logo is something, but the differences themselves weren't important.

3. The Latin phrase in the academy logo...(roughly "questions are the beginning of wisdom?) Maybe we should be looking at the questions that are in the futures and articles. The reason I say this, is that it feels like the articles are filler...only adding to the background but not obviously to the game.

I guess I'm focusing on the academy logo, but I think its "front and center" placement in the Sentinel is intentional.

I think it is front and center too.

It could be an older version of the logo to resolve certain speculation about the names and we're to believe the Sentinel employee simply made a mistake.

However in a non-alphabetcal order, this information seems ranked. Noi is the first and the rest follow. (at the time the logo was designed!)

In this second crest we see Taversen as the last name listed, though Taversen was the First Master of the Academy. We know there are kinfolk of these people still prominent in society - so we may be looking at multiple generations - over 700 years for Taversen's family involvement! This second crest may pre-date Aetiant, or be one of her grand-children for all we know.

I just realised, April 22 is the day before a full moon isn't it?

And what is a full moon but an alignment of the Earth, the moon and the Sun? That's right, a syzygy.

Yeah, 2 days before actually - full moon is the 24th. I don't think it lives up to the literal meaning of a syzygy IMO
Quote:

syzygy
n : the straight line configuration of 3 celestial bodies (as the sun and earth and moon) in a gravitational system

which would make it a new moon or a lunar eclipse... god, I sound like such a geek.

In the same vein as this. Check this out...

If you take the first letter of each name in the logo, in alphabetical order, and reverse alphabetical order, and google that...you get ".fts" files.

Now, .fts files are, among other things, 1/3 of a star map (3 .fts files makes a complete map). There is an app called Iris that reads these .fts files and can layer three of them to create a completed map.

When I originally discovered this, I thought I was WAY overreaching, but since someone else brought up celestial bodies I thought I'd mention it.

Either one...in actual alphabetical order (and reverse). The names are the same, one logo just has them listed alphabetically for us.

I got the idea from Scarlets constant postings of ambigrams (looking at things forward and backwards).

[EDIT] OOH! OHH! I wonder it the names of Sente's kids play into this, Scarlet and Violet = Red and Violet light? We would need a green of some sort to make white light. Someone help me my brain is melting...

ahh, red and violet .. you know, violet, a sort of bluish color ..
so, like, you know, redshift and blueshift.
(redshift is when stuff moves away, blueshift is when stuff moves closer)
I'm really not taking this anywhere. just a dumb observation.

I think I was more thinking of this than the redshift, blueshift (vilot-->blue is a stretch).

I'm actually running with this idea. I'll post if I do or don't find anything.

I was pondering this concept as well, earlier - that Perplex City exists overlapping our dimension but vibrating at a higher frequency. or that they were once on "our" earth but learned how to shift into the 'higher' vibrational dimension/spectrum.

Sorry if this has been spec'ed ten million times already - I just thought it tied into the whole wavelength (like wave length and transverse rd!)/light name ideas...

Why is violet->blue a stretch, given that the blue end of the spectrum is actually violet (thus ultra-violet - greater wavelength than violet) - a blue shift is simply the shifting of a colour from a known spectrum of light to be emmitted by a particular source towards the blue (violet) end of the spectrum - violet shift would make more sense in real life than blue shift since there isn't, strictly speaking, a blue end of the spectrum...
