Okay, wild spec....

well, the robot said that Jacob would die if the merzkeen wasnt stopped. This doesnt mean that the merzkeen is dangerous, but sounds to me like a threat from the star people(not something to expect from a benevolent race)...also, from what weve read, in the past, the gates opened, war started - all hell broke loose - seems the star people won "brotherhood" = assimilation? - star people wanted to know why the merzkeen didnt fight - merzkeen (rightly) destroyed the gate.

but...what was the "test" - possibly Jacobs captivity? Series of robots and gates around the galaxy, near child/developing species attract intelligent lifeforms and test them?

The question is, what does this have to do with the cannon from Mars to Earth - (personally, i think the Mars King password of Simon and the merzkeen are not the same)
...does some shadowy organisation (perhaps the same thats got that wierd logo) plan to destroy earth - or maybe ransom it? Maybe its a revolution of the downtrodden miners (we've seen how they've been treated).

Maybe people on earth know about the gate and are waiting for it to open, ready with bioweapons?

the only connection i've seen could be that Charlie told Beth where to find that mask
