Good question, what is truth in game... Well, strictly speaking you could have a game in which they read the forums et al because they in game knew that you thought you were playing a game (anyone see the section 32 chatlogs?)...
In game reason, maybe her dad gave it to her because he thought it would be right for the blog, and Brett "sent" it to her dad?

Interaction between in game characters and real world characters should still be considered in game (much of ILB was played this way), but the real world characters themselves are out of game. So if he claims he didn't send it to Scarlett, then it has to be explained another way. He obviously sent it to someone, and somehow it ended up in Scarlett's hands. The most probable reason being that it was given to her by someone who recieved it at another address.
Of course, I doubt that any of this matters to the game at all, but I'm just trying to clear up any confusion as to what is and is not in game.

Has anyone tried to desteg this image yet? Possible passwords could be "Scarlett" or "pile" or "Bruce"... we should try the first ambigram also: "Perplex City" or "Jemima" could be codes...
I am using a Mac and cannot desteg (unless someone knows a good jpeg destegger for the mac yet?), when I get over to my school today, though, I"ll sneak over to one of the dells and try.
If there's anyone else that wants to give it a shot in the mean time post your findings!

I tried but to be honest that was my first foray into destegging things, so I can't vouch for any accuracy. Didn't seem to find anything though.

Subtle. Reeeeeeeal subtle.
The above is a reference to Parallel Universe Spec ('PUC,' if you like really unnecessary acronyms), that Perplex City is in a parallel universe and is on their universe's version of Earth. It's becoming more and more likely.
[EDIT: removed spoiler tags - no need to spoiler spec . yanka.]

On 7th April, maxim asked everyone to email Scarlett with the question 'what is a key'. (sorry dunno how to put in a link to this thread).
Today is April 19th, and she says she recieved 'a flurry' of emails asking about keys.
Do you think there is a time delay going on - i.e., it takes around 12 days for our emails to reach Scarlett? So her answers will always be 12 days(ish) behind??

Umm, I would be the Bruce who mailed that ambigram.
And, by the fact that I'm posting here, I'm very much out-of-game except as a player.

at that time, i sent her the question, as well as a picture of a star trek (next generation) communicator. you know, the little shiny things on the uniform, they touch em to talk, serves as an id tag, all that. I sent her a picture of one, descring how it's used (explaining it's fFrom a work of fFiction) and drawing some possible comparisons between those and keys. I dont expect she'll reply to us in those terms - a ST:TNG communicator - but maybe it'll give them something they use to liken it to to help things on their end.

Something it suggests is that we could co-ordinate our questions, have a question of the day, or the week and all ask it simultaneously. Perhaps she'll be a bit more forthcoming as she finally bowed to peer pressure on the key front (lets see how long it takes her to get round to explaining though).
She also seems to like pictures (although not my stegged Dodo apparently...most upset) so we could send one along with our group effort to sweeten the mix.
perhaps to avoid the confusion of the two bruces we could call you Forsyth and Springsteen respectively (argue amongst yourselves over which is the least palatable!)

Come on Scarlett! You're a budding journalist, you can come up with some analogies yourself, I know you can... Don't hold back on us now.
Hope she gets back with some info soon, I'm itching to know what these keys are all about.
