Just chill peeps! This ARG seems to be one that has been heavily sponsored by a large company somewhere, in the hope of advertising their product or service to a huge audience of ARG players around the world. Why would they allow us to miss such an important peice of info because we didn't solve a well hidden clue? This would mean losing potential customers at the end of the game, and not a very good marketing strategy by anyones standards. I'm pretty certain that we will all receive an email with the all the info we need to start making inroads into this thing.

All the build up was obviously a stalling tactic while the PM's get everything ready for the challenges to come. There may have been some background info we've learnt in these last few weeks that we need to take with us on our journey, but it's all archived in the WIKI and other places, so the reference is all there if we do need it.

The main thing to do now is not panic. Lets all take some deep breaths and count to ten before doing anything rash tomorrow.

Probably all true. OTOH, the PM's have to assume some level of problem solving on the part of the gamers. That's the nature of the game itself. Wouldn't be much of a game if we all just wait around to be spoonfed. I can watch TV for that...

One of the other futures corroborates by saying:
Quote:
The Maze (November 11 - December 10)
Quite lost down the rabbit hole, aren't ya? This babe's the one to give you a helping hand.
'Babe' being a pig from a movie. Wilbur being another pig (This pig) from Charlotte's web. And also:
Quote:
The Baby (February 11 - March 10)
Can't get that promotion you want by resting on your laurels. The effort you'll need to make comes reflexively to others,[

A prior future (can't find it now) also said something to the effect that Wednesday could give us something that would be obvious in retrospect on Friday.

Don't have to wait until Friday to spin by the library and shake a book or two.[/quote]

Well, that's an active desktop item now Smile

To be perfectly honest, we're meant to be working as a team yeah? So doesn't it make sense to have a couple of people go to greenwich, just in case? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who finds the clues, as long as someone does?

Unfortunately, it looks like I'm stuck here tomorrow, which is a shame because I wanted a trip to London really... Sad

Jeb

In the "Sit back and relax" camp

FWIW I have to say that I agree with those that believe this will be a web based communique.

1. The Charlotte's Web thing
2. From the article entitled "Secret Kiteway Plans Leaked to Sentinel"

Quote:
These documents reveal, among other things, that the Academy, working in conjunction with an Earth-based company, has received tens of thousands of volunteers to aid in the hunt for the Cube.

My bolding

This reads to me that Sente via the earth-based company will email everyone that signed up at perplexcity.com and that this is the communication to "a large audience".

Tens of thousands = large audience I would say

The one thing is, I'm fairly there isn't ten of thousands of lurkers here, nevermind posters.

I'm guessing their count is based on the number of emails received, not the population of unfiction.

at the risk of being much off-topic ... wtf?

He's talking about the link in Seej's Sig were you can find this file
http://www.cjtonline.net/booted/music/Seej%20-%20Get%20Wild.mp3
in the section on badwidth thieves and getting back at them ... nice work Seej...

But PCGF, Seej was talking about the "Both a Gift and a Trap" Sig...

anyway... thier counting is probably off of email address sign ups at perplexcity.com, so i was counted twice and i know i'm not the only one that submitted multiple email adresses to that site.

Just tell us what you mean!! For us slow kids at the back

EDIT: damn I'm slow.....

Heh, I've done some remixes that I host on that site. Some idiots were loading one of them as a background for their poorly designed sites and stealing my bandwidth. So I changed the file to something I thought they wouldn't like very much, specifically an audio file containing that message Smile. Believe it or not, their hit-counts have risen by about 50% since I did that, but they don't seem to have noticed yet. Which I find very funny, and so I blogged it.

Glad to see you're all calming down a bit. While I'm not saying I know for sure that we shouldn't have a team hitting Greenwich, I don't think it's a very likely rendevous.

And as for the possibility that there's a secret group somewhere, well, I say screw 'em. That is possibly one of the lamest and most pathetic things I've ever heard and anyone who wants to do this is an antisocial loser.

Lastly, we do know that the PMs read Unfiction - look here. They say there's a backer, and that backer isn't gonna be best pleased if the game ends before we even know what it's about. I'm not saying we should just sit on our asses and wait for all puzzles to be reduced to a ROT-13 cyphertext, but equally other puzzles I've seen in other ARGs have at least clearly been puzzles and given us something to pick at. I'm sure with the scale of this game they're not gonna leave us hanging.

Makes sense. Just got that, must have missed the discussion elsewhere

pretty much settled now, but if anyone needs any more evidence that it will not be a live event, the sentinel article says that sente will be addressing the people, and since items (much less people) cant be transported to earth, i'm guessing it will be another site update (hopefully with a video feed).

but going out of the house when you know an update is going to happen? what a bad time to start getting a life Smile

I am thinking along the same lines. Me thinks www.perplexcity.com is due for an update. Hopefully it will lead to a ton of goodies =D

Word, 'zilla, I'm getting kind of annoyed here at the slow start. I want to post and be active, but there's nothing new to say, and I don't want to go start playing something else, because I've never had the luck to play an ARG and as I've learned so much the last few months waiting for this to kick into high gear, the more I get excited and want to be able to devote my time to just this one.

Gah! And $#&* a whole bunch of my having to wake up at 6:30 am tomorrow to be ready to see if anything's on the web. Stupid -8 pacific time zone.

And I know this isn't the best place to post it, but the introductions thread was bare, is anyone *actively* playing and on the boards here in the pacific northwest? pleease?

Thefirst thing we did in this game was to give Sente our e-mails. He then said that he would contact us in due time. Perhaps today.

PS. Scarlett must not die. Don't even say that. Evil or Very Mad
