War Of The Worlds Hey all!
I have been reading up on the coming attractions to the big screen this summer, especially the Speilberg version of War of The Worlds.
I read on MSN.com that they (Speilberg and crew) want to accomplish something similar to the Orson Wells radio drama. You know, mass hysteria, people running in the streets, women fainting, babys crying, that sort of stuff. Knowing what we know about Speilbergs past ARG history, we may be in for a great summer!
I am keeping my eyes peeled for any hints. Has anyone else out there given this any thought? Anyone looking forward to the movie? The trailer is up and is quite good.

this isn't really a ....uhm.... time waster.... it's just an OT comment/question.
So far, there isn't anything interactive to do with the movie, aside from watching a trailer.

Dear HGW Shillperson,
We want to transfer to overseas ($ 152,000.000.00 USD) One hundred and Fifty two million United States Dollars) from a Bank in Africa, I want to ask you to quietly look for a reliable and honest person who will be capable and fit to provide either an existing bank account or to set up a new Bank a/c immediately to receive this money, even an empty a/c can serve to receive this money, as long as you will remain honest to me till the end for this important business trusting in you and believing in God that you will never let me down either now or in future.

Still not getting why this should be ARG-ish.

It's not an ARG. Apparently, the HGW account (for H.G. Wells, author of War of the Worlds) is part of a viral marketing campaign aimed at promoting the new Spielberg-Cruise-Fanning flick. Our three non-blondes have created an old school sci-fi flick that should be rather decent.
However, where HGW fails, and this is not really his failure as opposed to Hollywood's, is that, instead of creating an entertaining, engaging world vis-a-vis ILB that expanded upon the mythology of WotW, they have chosen to go down the rather cliche path of corporate shilling to advertise their new epic.
Wow, that sentence was amazing!

However, to be fair... the future hasn't happened yet, so there may yet be an ARG planned for this movie, and this might just be the heads up to keep an eye out.
Still, that doesn't take away from the Shill Factor© of the original post.

For enough money, *I'd* be a corporate shill.

maybe things have changed since that thread was started... but either way, as it stands - until it is proven to be ARGish {instead of just a link to the official ad web site} and the two threads merged and moved here, i'd call it trout.
