Dalemail and Athena Coin

(I hope these pics work cause I've never posted a file on here before)
It's a coin about 5cm in diameter with a small hole punched out at the top like for string to go through. The impression on the other side is just the reverse of the front, and the material is flexible, some sort of aluminum I think.
any ideas?

Hello Hojo
I did some digging regarding the owl of Athens in a previous post. The owl coin is the reverse side of Athena Coin. I suspect that your coin is Athena.
http://www.lawrence.edu/dept/art/buerger/catalogue/030.html
So I felt that doing a little more research on the owl was applicable so here is a lovely website..
a phrase i had never heard.."Like taking Owls to Athens"
If you had an owl coin you new that it was worth its weight
http://www.sikyon.com/athens/coins/coins_eg01.html
The owl was a symbol of wisdom and knowledge in ancient Greece and
a symbol of economic power
Athens was named for her patron goddess Athena who, according to myth, sprang fully grown and armed from the head of her father Zeus. She defeated Poseidon for possession of Attica by producing the olive tree, and thus winning their contest of miracles. The owl, symbol of the goddess, perhaps originated in her epithet of glaukopis, meaning "bright-eyed" or "owl faced".
The statesman Solon reformed the standard weight and type of Athenian coinage in the early sixth century BC. The Athenian type of Athena on the obverse and the owl on the reverse was introduced perhaps around 566 in honour of the Festival of the Panathenaic Games--the type is from that time constant throughout Athenian history. The portrait of Athena is probably the oldest example of a human head on ancient coinage. The type with both the portrait on the obverse and the owl on the reverse is the earliest Greek coinage with both an obverse and reverse type.

people previously thot that it was in fact a Roman Coin , the Owl of Minerva, the Roman goddess of Wisdom..but the greek coin predated it.

The envelope looks like it's the same as everyone elses. Marked April 7th, Kilmer P&DO, 08899.
There's a number 12 written on the front of the envelope, but I'm not sure if it could have been Dale or the post office that made it (it's in black pen while Dales is in green). How many were sent out and how many have been received?

You are nr. 13 (and Dale did mention 13 items at one point, then amended it to 12). Blaming it on his mind being out of whack for some reason.
Are both sides of the coin identical??
If not, could you then make a photograph of the missing side. Or is the other side a blank??

Yes Maggie posted this:

My email from Dale was the same as Dan's, with this addition:
One last quick thing about the items. There were 12 of them. I just checked the list I made to make sure. I seem to be having more and more trouble focusing on details lately, as if my mind isn't entirely in the here and now. Let me just check again. Yes, your list looks correct. Please make sure everyone who received one puts it in a safe place.
We can't just assume he made a mistake...The line "There were 12 of them. I just checked the list I made to make sure." sure makes me wonder. Maybe someone in correspondance with him can verify it.
Dale saying there were only twelve items makes me wonder, but the fact that Hojo's had to cross the border may have caused the delay.

reason for 12 I am thinking that the reason for 12 maybe cause they noticed that one of the items was missing so instead of saying 13 they said 12 instead.

We are trying to put together all the locations of the receipiants. 13 just rings too much of a cirlce. I spec'd that the items can be broken down into 4 groups marking the four corners.
North - intelligence - book pages and angle picture
East - prosperity - jewelry
South - creativity - the evoloving owl coins
West - intuition - the tarot cards
Also has been spec'd that through sympathetic magic, the sender has cnnected the items and the receivers so we would not necessarily have to be together for the circle to work.
So far Sally has put together this list.
Quote:
maggie mae -- clay disc w/ owl imprint -- Connecticut
ElderofZion -- 4-faced coin --------------- Massachusetts
Spuds -------- Oracle card ---------------- Columbus, Missouri
Barbarellany - unfinished owl imprint ---- New York
Konamouse -- book pages ----------------- Las Vegas, Nevada
Dashcat ------ book pages ----------------- SF, CA
Varin --------- 4-faced coin ---------------- Wisconsin
If dmax801 is The dmax - Oak Man card - California
That leaves the following unknown locations for uf only members, case members who
use different nicks in different forums, and/or didn't list state in profile:
kimer --------- Sage card
AntraX101 --- Death card
Opie ---------- Pentacle
BrandonPrice-Dore illio
Hojo ---------- face side of coin
Can we get the rest of the locations and see it there is any connections?
