[More Spec] New ideas on 19th April picture of doom

OK, I have a couple of thoughts that haven't been covered yet and I don't want to just bury them in the 60 page pile below...

The calendar; OK, it's White Sox because we get lots of Chicago references, it's Frank because we get lots of May hints anyway, but why 2004? The 2005 calendar would have been available from September 2004 so there's no reason why it couldn't be May 2005, I think either there is something special about May 2004, or MORE importantly, who is Mr May in the Sox 2005 calendar?

The word grid; on another post I mentioned it would have been an easier and better photoshop if the word grid was black text on a white background, so maybe the fact it is white on black is important, like what if it's a "negative" as it were, so you could oppose all the letters as well ie A=Z, B=Y etc. (aren't Voltron's feet on opposite legs as well? the desk is set up for a left hander which again is opposite the more common right handed) that gives us a very different grid, nothing else on the grid seems to work so maybe changing the letters altogether will, I think this is it "opposed";

Q O X Z O Y L R O
V L X K Z B O P I
O L R G V N X L V
P O O Y B B L O Z
T Z N V U R M W Y
Z W F I I Y H O U
I H U H Y U Z H I
V V V H O I U V R
W Z Z Y Z V W T M

Looks even worse to me though, worth pointing out a post yesterday that compared recurrence of letter with typical English, I think the original grid made sense; it could have become all words, but there were a lot more "L"s than usual and absolutely no H's, so maybe we're looking for "L" heavy words in the original still?

Thirdly, poor Kristin's site, maybe we need to think who would be at this desk looking up Kristin's website in May 2004; a Bungie employee? An MS employee? A 42 employee? maybe her site is a clue as to whose desk this is, or reinforcing the fact that this is indeed May 2004 we're looking at (I believe a bit before Ilovebees was launched, wasn't that late 2004?). I can't imagine MS employees get to decorate their desk with toys, but you could at Bungie which is pretty laid back...

Finally, if truth brings revelation, then we need to think what the lie is; is there a lie in this picture? SOmething that isn't right

Lie...Well, voltron is screwed up...not much else though...and the date on the calender, someone said it doesn't match up with the game...what if we eliminat all the lies to leave us with 'truth'

Also, could this have anything to do with reconciliation (sorry for the spelling) Has anyone tried truth and reconciliation or just reconciliation? Sorry if it's been done but i'm getting desperate!

I think there was some discussion of the Halo levels but it went nowhere, the thing is that som many of Gamem8kers comments could just be comments; of course truth will bring revelation, it doesn't have to have any bearing on this puzzle really...

ANyone in CHicago who can look out a white sox calendar and see who Mr May is? I'm in UK so can't do Sh*t

The calendar lists the correct schedule, but the game scheduled for the 12th was played on the 13th because of rain.

coffeefilms - Thanks, you have some good, organized, observervations. I think that's something we could all use at this point. Everyone's mind is seeming pretty fried and we've just run out of ideas and focus.

Cheers; I've just been trying to look at it like a PM. To me the desk is blatantly "set up", everything is there for a reason, even if only to divert, so why use an old calendar? Why make your photoshopping job harder when you clearly have limited skills anyway? Why put Kristin's site in there?

BTW to anyone new; don't go to Kristin's site or bug her, she is definitely out of game, all that's relevant is that she is a voice actress who did a major part of the "ilovebees" ARG that launched Halo 2 last year. The extra traffic has crashed her site and she and anyone she links to is getting bugged to death by Colony players see;

I agree that the calendar has to have some importance. Why 2004 and not 2005? I did some research on Frank Thomas the animator and the only connection I could find to games was that he trained Gary Goldman and Don Bluth who went on to make Dragon's Lair & Space Ace. Have tried all sorts of combinations with this and nothing worked but I thought i'd throw it out there.

Given that the forture cookie link is obviously a red herring (a diversion) I am not so sure that everything else on the desk "has a reason" to be there. They too could be just merely distraction from the goal.

The last puzzle/challenge was similar in context. There would white bars that turns out to be a barcode, which translate into a number string, which became a phone number. Calling the number yields the answer.

I don't think this puzzle should be too different. So I think that the word grid is still the key to solving the puzzle and that everything we need should be in the picture itself, because it is the only thing that is "added on". (It was said that the blacked out part on the calendar is merely an advertisement and they blacked it out due to legal reason. This has yet to be confirmed however.)

It's sort of been proven;

from Google image search.

This and the small bottle of alcohol on the table indicate that they are hiding alcohol advertising, which may have something to do with legal reasons...

giant connection?

So....I was looking throught the picture gallery at ourcolony and saw a couple of pictures that had the colony-ant logo posted next to a "the giant" sticker, Someone in the monster thread allready pointed that out, Two pictures in particular have that sticker (Sanfrancisco12 and someother one I cant find right now). Could the key to solving the word find be hidden in those 2 photos Question

im haveing a feeling that the flowers may have a little more to do with it. Mostly because no one really cares about the damn things. Do they repesent Chicago or LA state plant? i dont know. ive been on this for almost too long now. and wtf with the new clue? its almost no different than the last clue.

Not sure if this has been touched on, but with the Obey Giant link, there's a contact in the contact page of obeygiant.com that points to http://studionumber-one.com an advertising company that has worked with EA and Eidos. Could they be behind this? Someone also mentioned that giant stickers on 2 of the images in the gallery.

The only thing that's not true on the picture is that those flowers are definitely dead and they're sitting in a vase. Also on the right of the flowers you can see some possibly bad photoshopping. That's the only "lie" that I can really see...

Also, if the people are close enough to the monitor to be in the reflection, they should be casting some sort of shadow on the image because if you notice the shadows ont he toys they seem to be coming from the left. If this picture had been taken with a flash their shadows wouldn't be seen but the toy's shadows should be central instead of shifted to the right...

If you zoom out on the picture (default view in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer) and look at the monitor screen in the bottom right it almost appears that there is a signature there...but when you're zoomed in you can't see it. Don't know how one would be able to analyze this though.

They're just some minor analysis that probably means nothing but I thought I'd input...

I wonder if it id possible for the box to be binaray or base 64 or some obscure code like that and represent a phone number. Im going to be spending the rest of the day looking for connections like that (screw paying attention in class) I'll post my findings!

Also...check the obey Giant site, there is a sticker database and the sticker in the ant pictures mught be in there...maybe andre the gaint really does have to do with this!
