[UPDATE] 4/18

There is some new text on idea>rome:

Quote:
Thy time is done, Great Ancient. Forever in shadow will you be, Master of Chaos, and to fade to nothing in obscurity will be thy fate.

This text is in yellow font... maybe a different character? Or from someone directly instead of through vis?

and in the source:
Quote:

<!--8704011032199715329710160509111021320005159911180114010063-->

and

<!--aquxtmzbpivgwcbpqvs-->
these letters ROT to simplerthanyouthink. (which Im guessing is referring to the large number)

Thanks for finding that!

OK, the Great Ancient and Master of Chaos is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Mantorok

New key. It's from a game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantorok

It leads to some more spooky text that seems to be about Simon (and video games).

Now on to the numbers ...

Tyr-Pargon-Redgormor-Mantorok-Pargon...

on the energy page.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Tyr - Norse god Of War...

BUT Pargon, Redgormor and Mantorok are all mentioned in Eternal Darkness...

Mantorok Is the Achient god mentioned before.

http://faqs.ign.com/articles/390/390258p1.html

Tyr isn't there but It might be a typo...of Try...

I think Tyr should be Tier (pronounced the same way I believe).

So Tier-Pargon-Redgormor-Mantorok-Pargon...

In the game you apprently make up spells by combining runes and calling on Ancients (Mantorok).
http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/file/eternal_darkness_magick_a.txt

Pargon is the power rune, and it's just used to increase the power of a spell.

Tier = Summon, and Redgormor = Area
Summon + Area = Magick Pool, which is just a spell to gain strength. I don't know if it's of any significance though.

Well, I've looked through the pages again - but because I suck I really don't have anything to add. The really long # is 58 characters long - you can split it into groups of 2, but not of 3.

In case it helps:

Code:

Word   Frequency

00   2
01   3
04   1
05   2
09   1
10   3
11   2
14   1
15   2
16   1
18   1
19   1
21   1
32   3
63   1
87   1
97   2
99   1

But, if this is simpler than we think, it would mean we're over thinking this.

Finally!
OK...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
For any of the numbers less than 26, add a 1 to the front and look up their ASCII value. For the ones greater than 26, use that value directly:
When was antimony discovered?

Looking it up, it says "antiquity," but that doesn't work.

Nice job.

Doing a Google search yields at least 2 other dates: 1450 and 1600. Neither one works numerically (or as fourteen fifty or sixteen hundred). Still looking around tho.

Edit: other answers that don't work: 1604 and the Middle Ages

One wonders where Simon gets his reference material from.

I think this might be a clue to help us on the periodic table puzzle.

Some sites say it has been known since achient times and the

Ozymandias page wrote:
Often knowing what to add is not nearly as important as knowing what to throw away. Thus we can return to what the ancients knew.

This site has when elements were discovered.

http://education.jlab.org/qa/discover_ele.html

Antimony, Arsenic, Carbon, Copper, Gold, Iron, Lead, Mercury, Silver, Sulfur, Tin and Zinc.

According to the site have all been known since anchient times...I find it strange antimony is the first alphebetically - and it isn't a commonly known elemement...

After I get back from food I might start working on the table for these elements.

You're a genius Shaded.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So I took the list that you provided and found where they were on Simon's table. I took those numbers and convered them to letters (A=0). I think I goofed up a bit because what I got wasn't quite right.

Carbon - Iron - Copper - Zinc - Arsenic - Silver - Tin - Antimony - Gold - Mercury - Lead (the order they appear on the periodic table)

3 - 8 - 15 - 11 - 14 - 10 - 14 - 12 - 0 - 9 - 8 - 2 (the numbers on Simon's table for the above elements)

D - I - P - L - O - K - O - M - A - J - I - B (the letters)

However, I took a stab that some of my letters were right, and tried a keyword that worked: diplomatic

I'll figure out where I goofed up after I check out the new pages.

edit - I think I figured stuff out. It's a combination of me goofing, our list being slighty off and Simon goofing. First off, I can't count. That 2 should be a C since A = 0. That gives us D I P L O K O M A J I C. Second, there are 2 extra letters. If we drop zinc and arsenic, we are left with D I P L O M A J I C. Thirdly, on Simon's table, Gold has the number 9 (J), but right next to it Platinum has the number 19 (T) - so it's probably just a case of misaligning the numbers when he created the table. That gives us the correct keyword.
