Sorry I haven't got more location plots - good work on yours, nhansard. Do we think there may be a pattern besides being sites for billboard posting?

*Bangs head on desk. Repeatedly*

I've been walking past these posters on my way to work for a good WEEK now! I just assumed they were yet another trailhead for this game. I'm charging my digital camera battery as I type and I'll see if I can snap some pics of the San Francisco ads after work today.

Ranger D! which ones are you near? I don't want to reduplicate your efforts... tell me if you can some street names and I'll try to hit different ones. I was going to do some of the Market St ones in the Civic Center area and the Mission St ones in the SOMA area...

My office is near the Civic Center, so the ones near there are the ones I was going to hit. I hope this doesn't put a crink in your plans. Specifically these:

1321 MISSION ST ( I )
1635 MARKET ST
1321 MISSION ST ( II )
671 NATOMA ST
1745-55 MARKET ST
1401-53 MARKET ST ( I )
1401-53 MARKET ST ( II )
1179 MISSION ST

Metreon Tuesday night

Hey, I'll be in SF tonight, near the Metreon -- in the Metreon, in fact (for some presentation by these 4orty2wo guys you might have heard of). Should I be looking at a map? Will I really be near any of these dots?

Will someone else be at the event, and can I sit with you? I'll be alone. :(

Heh, I think everyone is going to be in the city tonight. My friend just called and asked if I wanted to get something to eat up there.

You can check a map, but I don't think there were any near the Metreon... I could be wrong.

I went to all the SF locations I listed above. All of the addresses were buildings that had poster-type ads put up on them.

The first and second locations had no audi posters. I now know that there will be new episodes of Family Guy on May 1st and that J. Lo has a new movie out. Rolling Eyes

Next I hit up the one on my work route. I've seen the audi posters there for the last week and a half, but they have now been replaced with newer ads. Witness my vandalistic acumen in the first pic.

But it's still not the whole deal. I need the whole VIN number! So I hit up the last location on my list and BINGO.

VIN reads as: WAUZZZ8P65A045963

Looks like the VIN matches up with what SMG3er in SF and HHM in SoCal has documented so far.

This could actually work. Using the saw, simple remove that portion of the wall that has the poster bonded to it. Smile

But seriously, why were these locations encrypted? I mean, why go to the trouble of encrpyting the addresses of these posters? From what I looked at, there was nothing special about the posters. Just white text on solid red background. That leave's you with the VIN as the only info you're getting from it. And it's not even a new VIN. If I encrypt something, it's usually information that's important to me or that I want to keep from un-authorized people from viewing. So why encrypt these locations?

If you remember the context, this was all designed to intimidate Ian. Worry is just crowing about the dark forces closing in. Nisha made a comment at one point about Ian trying to get the solves himself -- that's surely a touch distracting and maddening when you've got goons ringing up your cell.

Update the Wiki with the new info.

Specifically, San Francisco

So, it looks like most of these addresses either have posters, or probably had posters. Did anyone find/see posters at any addresses that are not on these lists?
