[Puzzle] Worry 95h3.html - "Jester"

I believe it was Sequoya who discovered that the file will display a picture in 1's and 0's if you add ".html" to the end of this document. (Attached at the bottom for completeness.)

If you "copy all" this web page, you can see that the image is made up of solid lines of 1's and 0's what fade in and out with some very impressive font color shifting in the html. Some people on IRC were saying that trying to copy and paste the who block of binary in IE caused a crash. I use firefox, so I've done that for y'all and the result is attached below as Jester-Binary.txt

Enjoy!

As for the picture it self.

First people called it a jester... Then we said it was a roman warrior... Now I'm not so sure....

This may still be a jester actually.

We're pretty sure this is NOT an image of Athena/Minerva. As the helm is all wrong, and she would have a spear, and there would be the face of Medusa on the front of the curass (chest armor). I thought perhaps this might be Baccus/Dyonisus dressed up as Hurcules for his trip to the underworld. But Dyonisus is always shown as having long curly locks that hang down... And he'd also have to have a large club as well as a lion pelt.

What we know:
- The figure appears to be a man. But could still be a woman.
- The figure wears a headdress that, at first, looked like a jester's hat, but is more likely some sort of Greek helm with a crest of feathers.
- The figure has either short hair, or long hair that is pulled up with nothing hanging down.
- The figure is wearing a decorated curass (solid chest armor). The decorations appear to be scroll work, possibly a bird with long tail feathers.
- There are no tassets (those tabs you usually see hanging from the bottom of chest armor)
- The figure stands akimbo, resting the knuckles of the right hand resting on the hip, and the palm of the left hand resting on... something.
- The object that the left hand is resting on appears to be secured on the figure's left hip. Possibly a short sword, but it could also be a jester's "bladder"
- The figure wears a long garment that comes down to about mid calf.
- Spectacular use of shading in the "skirt" where it clings to the figures legs and the shortness of the garment shows that the figure is wearing no leg armor at all.
- The figure wears slipper type shoes or sandals.

Conclusions:
- The only armor the figure wears is the helm and the curass. Absence of a shield, tassets, and leg armor could suggest one of a number of things. Either the armor is ceremonial, or the person is wearing a costume. (Which is rather the same really.) Either way, this is not how you go into war.
- The person is showing off bare ankles... So that is a strike against this being a woman. Female athletes showed their ankles... But if this was an athlete, she would be dressed very differently.
- Standing "Akimbo" (feet planted apart, fists on hips... Like you usually see Peter Pan depicted) is a distinctly male stance. So this is either a man... or a woman pretending to be a man.
- From the waist up, the subject cuts a very dashing figure... From the waist down it could be considered rather dumpy. This is what suggests to me that this is a person in a costume... And a half assed costume at that.
- The object that the figure is resting his left hand on: Does not extend past the body, so, if this a sword, it is a short one. (Which would be likely if the person is, or is supposed to be, Greek or Roman.) If you look at were the object disappears behind the left hip. There's a little pouch like thing there. Jester's used to carry around a stick with an inflated cured sheep bladder on it to whap people with. (Though you may be more familiar with the image of a stick with a small jester head on the end.) Since the object appears to be to long to be the hilt of a Greek or Roman sword. I think what this may actually be a jester's bladder with the end of the stick simply resting on the figure's hip.

Really great work johnny5!
So the "I Will" Maiden of Chicago is part 2, and Chicago addresses are part 1.

Geez, I'm learning a bit of history about Chicago, the "I Will" city.

From the Chicago Public Library, the "I Will" motto and figure was designed in 1891 by Charles Holloway who submitted it as part of a contest to capture the "Spirit of Chicago." I don't know if it's actually a statue in the city, or just a drawing. However, apparently, little figurines of "I Will" have been made. There's apparently also a bust given as an annual "I Will Spirit of Chicago" Award.

Holloway, a gold-medal winner at the 1900 Paris Expo, also painted murals within the Allen County Courthouse (Fort Wayne, IN).

Concerning the motto, "I Will", part of its essential character is the resurrection of Chicago from the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The celebration of the Chicago "I Will" spirit was exemplified in the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. "What is the so-called "I Will" spirit of Chicago? Let the immortal Daniel Burnham, architect of Chicago's first World's Fair , and designer of Chicago's City Beautiful plan, answer:"

Quote:
"Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood, and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing intensity. Remember that our sons and grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us. Let your watch-word be order, and your beacon beauty."

"I Will" represents strength, vitality, and heroism.

Quote:
HAIL, CHICAGO!

Hail, Chicago! Hail, Chicago!
First in Art and industry.
Hail, Chicago! Hail, Chicago!
Strong, courageous, proud, and free.
Never shall thy people falter,
All the world thy fame shall fill;
Nought our loyalty can alter,
Nor the spirit of "I Will!"

Sounds like someone wanted to raise an army of Chicago-ians... it sounds like a cult...

Sweet work J5. Where is this figure located? Is its address pertinent to a possible OP in Chicago?

As far as I can tell, there is no actual statue anywhere. If there is, then there's is an extremely surprising dearth of webpages that even deign to mention it. The figure is more of an "image" or "symbol" of the Spirit of Chicago, and has been memorialized as an annual prize (that gives a bust of the figure), and a figurine. Those two _may_ actually be the same thing.

If anyone lives in Chicago or knows more about this, please jump in.

so maybe I was right and somehow the clue pointed to Will? If so there may be more in these codes than we thought - maybe a message about the package for Ian being sent to Will? ?
