We just want to get into the places and we don't care about the travel at all. And I think it is one of the main problems for some people (not everybody, of course) to like LOTR. They are not books written for racing people who wants things to end quickly, but for those who wants things to end, but in a different way, enjoying the path while walking and admiring how beautiful a single rocky mountain can be.
I also like reading more "dynamic" (?) books, but I think it is important to learn both: how to live fast, and how to live slow.

I don't know if what I wrote makes any sense or not, but well, you'll agree it is difficult to share such "deep" thoughts in a language which is not the one you've lerned from/by (?) birth. So sorry if it is just a nonsense. Embarassed

Dear, dear Kraehtot, please, please stop apologizing for your beautifully-rendered English, and most definitely stop apologizing for attempting to give those of us here in the States an alternate viewpoint. We definitely don't get enough of that sort of thing over here, and I appreciate it, because I know that I move around in the world with largely-unquestioned assumptions; it's good to have someone point out that there's more than one lens through which to view the world.

Seconded. It's easy to read your intent from your posts, and your ideas are eloquently expressed.

[Edit] Actually thirded...should've scrolled down to see Zaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg's response...

... now bear in mind, children, that you shouldn't discuss this unless you are posting specifically about gay cuttlefish fetishes. Because even OOG threads must adhere to strict rules... Rolling Eyes

Well, I find their off-topic nonsense rather amusing myself, and it doesn't really harm anyone, so I'd say it might be best to just try and get used to it. No one posted anything new worth discussing on Twitter or Tumblr, so there wasn't something important to discuss being ignored.
That said, this would be better suited for the rage thread or the Off-Topic thread. I actually thought this was the rage thread until I started to write this.
Or, since it seems to be such a popular discussion point, maybe we should make a thread specifically about literature and the quality of classics?

First of all, thank you for those encouraging me with my English. You can not imagine how relieved I feel ^^

Going back to on-topic:

I've laughed so much on this. Great Tim is GREAT.

I would find it quite interesting, but I am not sure if it can be done, since this forum "is about" Marble Hornets and related stuff... however, it would be a nice thread ^^

It's not that there's any harm done. It's just that there's a specific OT thread that this stuff should be posted in, as being duped into thinking there are new blog posts is annoying

my opinion about this is plain and simple. When a thread gets derailed and a moderator joins in the discussion and doesn't say anything otherwise then there's no issue at all.

A book club reads a new book for every X increment of time, & discusses it. This would just be a general literature thread.

Thank you. I was wondering if there was a polite way to say this. Well done.

Edited: because I can't stand it when I get a citation wrong, and because I don't seem to be able to get this computery-type-machine to do what I want it to do in the first place, today... PEBCAK, bleh.

Yeah, I guess it doesn't technically belong in this subforum, but if the moderators/admins don't mind... I mean, hasn't this discussion erupted in two different threads over several pages in the past few days? Clearly, the thread would be put to good use.

Wellll, if you want to get technical about it, this forum probably shouldn't be in the Index, as MH is not technically an ARG. The fact that we are clearly the most active of the fora and that we (most of us, anyway) seem to be enjoying ourselves immensely... well, that probably accounts for our special dispensation from the ARG Pope, as well as the rather liberal hand with which we are moderated.

None of which really excuses our bothering you with our "off-topic nonsense." So sorry.

So... cuttlefish... gay cuttlefish... anyone have any comment there?

An interesting question.

Wiki seems to indicate that homosexuality in animals exists primarily in birds & mammals, with some insects & reptiles. It has no data on cephalopods. However, if homosexuality is an ancestral trait, rather than a derived trait in each of these groups, it is theoretically possible.

Of course, then you have to ask yourself to what extent true homosexuality exists in nature--experiments make no distinction between individual animals that exclusively engage in same sex mating behavior, & individual animals that may breed with both sexes.

It is also possible that, in some cases, male-male mating evolved as a "distraction," to prevent other males from impregnating the female. Snakes are a potential example, here. Would we really classify this as "gay," in the traditional sense?

It's gonna make your butt hurt.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I apologize if that offends anyone, was against a rule that I'm not aware of, &/or just generally because it was awful.
