More MAJOR Multiplayer Spoilers:

These spoilers talk about features that I've seen. Only mouse over if you are looking for an edge in multiplayer.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

  • There is a zoom ability on your heads-up display, but no targeting reticle. So any weapon can zoom, but some can zoom & fire at the same time.
  • The human rocket launcher will "lock on" and fire homing missiles. If you are targeting a vehicle for an extended period, the reticle will change to an active red style and when you fire the missile it will home in on the target.
  • The Brute weapon is usable in some multiplayer maps, its' shot will bounce around until it hits something. I'm not sure how many times it bounces, but it has some interesting tactical opportunities.
  • There's another directed beam weapon that looks Covenant in design. It's kinda like the gluon gun in Half Life.
  • I didn't get to see the covenant sniper zoom ability (if it even has one.)
  • Hand-to-Hand with the shotgun is much faster and is a great 1-2 hit to follow up a shotgun blast with.
  • The Covenant Plasma Rifle is a 1 handed weapon and can be dual wielded.
  • You can reload the machine guns (MP5s?) even when dual wielding.
  • There seems to only be one Plasma Sword on most levels where "normal weapons" option is selected. So there will only be 1 in play during "normal" games.
  • Vehicles respawn if destroyed or abandoned to their original locations (no more losing the Warthog on the other side of the map and having to run all the way across to get it back.)
  • Imagine: Dual-wielding the plasma pistol with another single handed weapon. Overcharge the Plasma Pistol, fire, then let loose with both weapons when the overcharge drops their shields.
  • Controlls are nearly identicle to Halo1 except that instead of using the left trigger for grenades only, you can dual wield and fire a second weapon (in your left hand) simultaneously with the first (in your right hand).
  • It looked to me like you could hold one weapon, then shift to a single handed weapon and dual wield. If you switched weapons, it throws BOTH to the ground. If you pick up a new weapon while dual wielding + having a 3rd weapon stashed on you, then you throw both dual wielding weapons away.

Also, apparently there's won't be too many people at any of the "Combat Trainings" - lotta people don't really care too much: See here.

I would actually want it this way. I'm more excited to be meeting people that have been on these boards playing ILB the last few months, than playing Halo 2.

I am soooo angry. My friend's brother tells me that he has played Halo 2. Then he proceeds to tell me about the single-player campain, and how his friend at blockbuster and him already beat Halo 2. He is a wannabe script-kiddie who hacks people's accounts in Ultima Online and steals their items, and I wanted to forcibly remove his lower jaw to keep him from talking! GRRRR! Cursing Damn he pissed me off! The only solice I take is that I will never have to compete with him for a job. Ever.
[/rant]

I wouldn't worry too much about those types of people. If playing illegal copies of games so that they can brag about it in front of other people gives their life more meaning, then more power to them. Besides, if you show no reaction to what they say, then you strip them of that "power" they believe they have over you.
The best way to deal with situations like that is to just not get mad and let it slide.

"I played HALO 2 early!"
"That's nice."
"I beat HALO 2 already and in the campaign....*yadda yadda yadda*..."
"That's nice. See you later."

Actually, those type of people don't really "play" the campaign. They play it to say they "beat it" or to just see "what's new"; they're not really into the kewl story. Other than that, the trend is: with any game that says "Xbox Live" on it, stupid people will buy it only for the Live part, and not for the single-player mode. That's why they're always so easy to beat their asses online. Watch, majority of those that buy the game will skip the story and play the "online" part. Pff!

If anyone has any questions about duel wielding check out this "Official Bungie Dual Wielding Guide".

Also, check out this "Readiness Guide" from the Halo 2 beta testers. There are three total guides but, the first two will not help.

Here's something interesting I found at bungie.net in the news, enjoy.

Lastly, here's my two cents on what to use when playing the game. If you can snipe use the Sniper Rifle or the Covenant equivalent along with the Battle rifle or once again the Covenant equivalent. If you're like me and like to get up close and personal I'd recommend the Battle Rifle and Shotgun or the Covenant Plasma Sword. With dual wielding if you got decent accuracy use the plasma pistol over charged (hold its trigger down and release when you want to shoot, the shot is semi-homing) in one hand and the human Pistol (Magnum) in the other. Use the Plasma Pistol to take down your enemies shields and one shot to the head with the Magnum and that's one less bad guy, or if you're not the best shot go with a Sub Machine Gun instead of the Magnum.

Oh crap, most of the Boise squad will be in SF this Thursday. Hmm, well, we'll get them answered somehow.

When did these go up exactly?
Any chance of getting a coordination thread (and blackforge page) up?

It looks like all the phones are fairly close to the "training" coordinates:
I'd love to meet up and help out (seeing as we'll be there the whole day as is). I guess I'll watch the SF coordination thread up until I leave Thurs morning.

EDIT: hey just noticed: hmrpita is getting the LAST call. Way to take us out in style! Very Happy

Checking in again!

I live in SF, and I get out of class at 11 AM that day, so I'll bee there early.
My brother will be coming as well, he sent in his reg and is now an Admiral ODST with like three purple hearts. Not bad for a 17 year old. I'll also bringing at least one friend along.

Hell... I am just an 18 year old college freshman... (how do you think I've managed to hit most of the axons in Boise every week? That and not having a life on Tuesdays...)

/me is a rude git at times, you must accept it.

First, there are no Admirals in the ODST. They are a branch of the Marines, so General maybe. Rolling Eyes

Second, there's been no tracking of medals in the ILB ranks, which you would have known if you had been doing more than lurking.

Thank you, drive through. Twisted Evil

I'd have to say that I cut it the closest, unless someone can prove me wrong, I turned 17 on 10/07.

Yo again!

First, in reply to Maizan.
That's the story he sent Dana and she took it. He sent her his name, rank, backstory, and even how many jumps he made. so there you go.

Second, in reply to Ceantari and twiztedmatt1007.
I think my bro's on the bleeding edge of cut, turning 17 on the 30th of October. I'm a 20 (turning 21 on the 3rd of November) year old college student whose schedule happened to come up perfectly for this particular event.

Finally, Maizan I'm glad you're a rude git. If we're playing on LIVE it'll be more fun.

~L.S.
