I go to sleep for five hours and the rage thread erupts without me...

I'm sorry, I just don't get "Doctor Who." It's way too goofy for me. Also, I feel like it's trying to make me feel stupid. Mad the last time something made me feel stupid (Christopher Nolan's "Inception") I got angry and vowed never to watch it again. So that's why I gave up on "Doctor Who" after the episode with the evil mannequins and the hungry mailbox. The "first" episode. Seriously.

Okay, I'm ready to be corrected by a trillion "Doctor Who" fans, go ahead.

^^^ This, all of it. Thank you for codifying it into a form that I can now use to get certain rabid persons off my back.

Also, thank you (I think?) for the link to SCP -- the sentient grapefruit was great. Unfortunately, I've continued reading there, and am now currently experiencing nightmares related to some of the objects described. I suppose this is an improvement over my previous dreamless sleep, in that my brain is at least attempting to return to normal functioning, but I do feel now like I should be constantly looking over my shoulder.

That's perfectly understandable. I count myself lucky that nothing as addictive as MH existed when I was in university.

I do not want to get out of this chair and go to get ready to go to work.
I want to sit here and wait passively, lazily for something amusing to present itself to me, so that I may make a supposedly-clever comment on it and then return once again to passive state. Dear gahd, I've become a fucking vegetable.

I don't feel appealed by Doctor Who either. (Which is the correct one here, "either" or "neither"?)

Omg, I want to go and write that on Twitter/Tumblr. Can I (obviously saying "By Grumplestilskin - Unforum")?

The correct choice there is either. I'm much more smitten, though, by appealed used transitively -- it totally works for me. Smile
Have I mentioned recently that I adore you, in a fierce girl-crush sort of way? <3

See, this is the problem with Doctor Who fans, normal people have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

Isn't that sort of true for everything? I mean, if you went to a different forum and talked about Hoody and Masky and The Operator without giving any context for those who don't watch MH, there might be a couple of people confused there too.

Also, normal people? Where? I thought this was Unfiction.

The problem with Doctor Who fans is actually that they think non-Doctor Who watchers actually give a fuck about what they're talking about.

Spoiler alert: We don't.

Interestingly enough, this is the first time I've seen someone mention they didn't like Doctor Who and have a bunch of Who-fans jumping down their throat.

Seriously, they dick-ride DW more than anyone here does MH

Who jumped down his throat? Most of us told him that's cool, it's not for everyone. Where the hell is this coming from?

I'm not going to shove a series down anyone's throat if they honestly gave it a try and decided it was not for them. I might be disappointed that I can't talk about it with them, but I'm not going to be an asshole about it.

I assume, by your wording, that you meant "didn't have a bunch of Who-fans..."? Am I correct?

I just think that Star Trek: The Next Generation is a better show than Doctor Who.
