Code:
fcb4d5 2:25 PM - 30 May 13

Which corresponds to Lavender, which should be "Y" in the code, so a time of :25 works for that.

Looking at the spreadsheet (thanks drizjr!), it appears that RUArtist has to date tweeted out most of the colors that seem to be in that message, except for:
Lavender
Indigo
Fern
Vivid Tangerine

so that will give us the 25 of the 26 total.

Only 3 colors left for RUArtist to tweet: Indigo, Fern, and Vivid Tangerine.
I updated the spreadsheet to leave those spots, and moved Melon back to the 19 spot, so that the colors are in the new alphabetical order.

Note: Desert Sand and Yellow Green were both tweeted at 7 after the hour, but neither F nor G are in our encrypted message. So either color could be 7 and the other would be 6.

I suspect that RU will want the string of letters in the order that they were tweeted. If I'm understanding this correctly; that would be the "key" to how he/she encoded the message.
Even though sheet 4 is locked, there's a copy of it as Sheet 5, for anyone to edit.

ETA: We now have 6dae81, Forest Green (not Fern. Those two colors are very close) at the 5th minute for E, and 5d76cb, Indigo, at the 23rd minute for W.
I tweeted RU:
Quote:
@ruartist Can you confirm _BVACPUJKX_T_MLQ_ZIDONYEW_ as your key so far?
awaiting a reply.

Keep in mind, that there are no crayon colors that start with the letter K, Q or X. So, best guess... shamrocK, aQuamarine, goldenrod = X?

A couple of interesting things, as I wondered why RU made so many errors in time:
1)The letters in the "should be column" are RSTMO: might spell STORM or MORTS (dead/death, in French, sort of)

2)The minutes that don't match up to the substitution cipher are: SOUNP, if anyone can make sense of that. (SOUND upside down?)

And last but not least we have:

Code:
ffa089 6:08 AM - 1 Jun 13

Which is Vivid Tangerine -- :08 -- "H"

And driz: the Artist responded to you:
Quote:
@drizjr Art is always subject to interpretation. Another piece will soon be revealed to answer your query.

Alrighty then.

Holy smokes RUArtist has tweeted a link to a new picture:

http://instagram.com/p/aBh5CASNXb/
"The bird of prey"

That's a LOT LOT of color squares. I'm too exhausted just looking at it to even try to decode...

I lied... here is my attempt at a translation (broken up into words):

Great work Dante! I've put the colors in alphabetical order on Sheet 5 of the google document or at least for this work of art.

Wow, that is exceptionally well-written. I was near to signing off of this ARG before I read that. Now...now I cannot go just yet. Let's just hope that things move onward from here, now that JUNE has arrived. Wink

Oh, RIGHT, and Dante, YOU DA BOSS!

Dante rocks!

RU has tweeted two new descriptive messages that seem to go along with two previous tweets.
Is RU describing his unsuspecting love, Virginia?

from the message isn't "Annabelle" the unsuspecting love? The message seems to be to Virginia (or to us?)

Although maybe it's relevant that Edgar Allan Poe's wife was named "Virginia"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Eliza_Clemm_Poe [[she was his first cousin and was 13 when they married.. what??]]

Also, I should point out that the name 'ANNABELLE' is perfectly centered on the line immediately above the picture in the middle.

And, the extra "E" on Annabellee seems to have been stolen from the word "CONFSS" a bit later, but someone else should doublecheck that.

Finally, someone should be able to identify the picture that is faintly recognizable in the middle.. some kind of portrait. Poe, perhaps? Is he The Poet? "Death is a good fellow and keeps an open house" was quoted in a Poe short story "Loss of Breath" and apparently comes from another poem or play: Marston's 'Malcontent'

EDIT: the problems with decoding is that I had to do that by eye. The raw hexes I was picking up from the image did not match and were too variable . All of those orangey-pinks (T N S G H) look the same!!!

EDIT2:

I was wrong about "ANNABELLEE" being a mistake. There is a poem called "Annabel Lee" by Poe:
Quote:
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

and the poem continues...

The Bird of Prey Image

So far, dante, I'm impressed with how quickly and how well you did that decode .. and yet, still have the vision to post. Shocked I only found one out of place tile; you can see on the attached image.

I'll update the image when it's complete, but I thought I'd post it now so it's easier to find that one tile that doesn't seem to be from our alphabet. I marked it with "??".

From this color site, it looks like one of these colors around indigo. I can't make up my mind just yet. Dunno
Periwinkle C5D0E6
Cadet Blue B0B7C6
(Indigo )
Wild Blue Yonder A2ADD0
Manatee 979AAA
Blue Bell ADADD6
It also seems to be the prominent color of the photo image in the center. If anyone is good at manipulating images, maybe that color is key to revealing something hidden in the pic.

I haven't had any luck in locating the source of the center image.
What I see in the background:
the head morphed into a skull, an old man's hand holding a cane, a top hat on the left (out of which, I imagine a rabbit emerging) ; under that some type of fabric with a prominent symbol that looks like a 4.

I don't know why, but the image looks familiar to me. It could just be that it follows a similar theme of a picture I have seen before. Maybe. What I know, and suspect, is that the PM manipulated this image, and perhaps more than just this image (that being the raven), into one cohesive gray. I've played with GIMP before and used this technique to skew words the way it is skewed on the image. I mean, it doesn't help us uncover anything, but I thought I would give some commentary. At present, I am looking over raven photos, trying to find a raven with that precise position. So far, I've gotten close, but not exact. Conceivably, the PM turned the image to fit his or her liking, which might explain why I haven't found it quite yet. Or, he/she used esoteric search parameters that yielded the photograph. I have to wonder if there is a point to it or if it is just meant to look nice? You know? Should we look for Poe stories about a top hat or a magical rabbit or the like? There just seems to be a man, standing there, with a top hat to the side. The weird face and the cane-like thing resting on the man seems to all be connected, not separate imagery. Maybe a painting. What I know is that the man in the photo is creepy and appears to be staring at me even now. Hello, creepy guy. Please stop looking at me.

As for the peculiar symbol on the hat, I'd almost argue it to be a PUZZLE piece. Is this a sort of Blue's Clues moment? Does the puzzle piece designate an item of significance? Or is it the puzzle piece that is significant?

Of note, the picture is called "Bird of Prey - Solitary Gray" (well, sort-of), and when I put solitary gray into google, I saw some Dorian Gray images. Then I looked at a few faux paintings of Dorian Gray's painting and they struck a similar chord to me. Maybe I'm just imagining connections or maybe the connections are already there? Am I rambling? I probably am...

Rolling Eyes

I sincerely think that all of those things behind the Raven are one image. I mean, most of it, anyway. The hat, the cane-like thing, the hand, the man, the suit (he appears to be wearing a suit or something similar to it). Here's a fun Dorian Gray painting:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/49/The_Picture_of_Dorian_Gray-_Ivan_Albright.jpg

I am not helping. Very Happy

EDIT:

Wait a minute...am I imagining this...is something quite amiss...or is there really, in this gray abyss...above the weird symbol (the puzzle or the four) seems to be a series of numbers and letters...right? Right? Shocked

Hey, S.P.I... Sorry for any confusion, but the title on the image that I attached "Bird of Prey - Solitary Gray" is what I named it; to highlight that one gray square. RU's title of it is simply, "The Bird of Prey", which puts to mind, "The Raven".

That is beautiful poetry, S.P.I.!
I think I see it, too.
We need an imagine ninja guy,
to find out if it's true.

Source of background image from "The Bird of Prey"

Part of a Daguerreotype collection at The Library of Congress
http://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/dag/item/2004663905/
It's Henry Clay.
Quote:
Summary: Republican Senator from Kentucky, 1806-1807, 1810-1811; Congressman, 1811-1814, 1815-1821, 1823-1825; U.S. Secretary of State, 1825-1829; Whig Senator, 1831-1842, 1849-1852; Democratic Republican candidate for President, 1824; National Republican candidate for President, 1832; Whig candidate for President, 1844.

I don't think it matters that it's Henry Clay; I could be wrong. I think that the image is meant to be RU not revealing his visage. What does matter, is that we can compare the two of them and see that the symbols weren't added on as some type of clue (which is a relief to me Drool) .

I'm truly amazed you found that picture! It does help rule out some possible avenues, although Henry Clay and Edgar Allan Poe were contemporaries so there could still be some connection...

About that 'incorrect' square --- I saw that and assumed it was meant to be the grayish color for "U". There are 1-2 other mistakes in there, too, I believe.
