Decided to read the original Marble Hornets trailhead here. I have to say, it's strange reading their speculation through the lense of hindsight. Have any of you ever done something similar? Read an old journal of yours or maybe a family member's, perhaps?

I've read some of that very trailhead, certainly. Always hilarious to see some old theories, like that so many people seemed to think Masky was TTA was Alex, etc.

But my favorite has got to be the discussions of when the series would end, because like 15 entries in they're already discussing how the series is probably coming to a close because "how much longer could they possibly make it?"

And we're still doing it....god damn we're bored.

I'm just saying, back around halfway through S1, people honestly thought it was ending in a few entries' time because they didn't know where else the story could really go, and it's funny because they really had no idea what they were in for.

Now we're still doing it because Trosephim have confirmed this to be the final season and we have some precedent from which to assume that it could be as soon as 78, but imagine if you told people back in those days that there would be more than 50 more entries before the series was even close to ending.

Couldn't resist checking after you said that. Seems like some of them are still on Unfiction, just left the MH subforum. Maybe some left because it turned out not to really be an ARG. But yeah, none of the familiar faces of today, at least not for the first several pages.

Like, as in, your Mother? Or maybe a song called "Mother?" Probably the either one by Pink Floyd or John Lennon...

No, as in the video game Mother, where one of the first key items you get in the game is you great-grandfather's journal/diary.

I've never heard of it, it sounds interesting, though.

Ever played Smash Bros? The second Mother game (otherwise known as Earthbound) is where Ness came from.

Oh, the kid with the backpack. I never played Earthbound, I remember there was one that was supposed to come out on the Nintendo 64 and it looked interesting but it never happened. Earthbound is a way better title than Mother, though, I must say.

Mother is the name of the series in Japan. They changed it to "Earth Bound" when they were going to bring it to the US, and reused it for the localization of the second game. (Though the first game for the NES was never released here, because they felt at the last minute that there wouldn't be a large enough market for it.)

I have a buddy who collects old games, got his hands on a copy of Earthbound. I watched him play a little, it looks like an amazing game.

He must be pretty loaded. The game costs 20K on Amazon. I'd better get a blowjob and a lifetime supply of Wonka Bars for that kind of money.

Costs 20K for a brand new copy via Amazon themselves. Brand new copies are obviously gonna be expensive. Amazon still needs $200 for a used copy, but that's much more reasonable, and a garage sale or a friend who owns it might give it to you cheaper.
