[QUESTION][SPEC] What is the time line for all this.........

OK so can someone just give me a timeline about how Durga got here in the first place. We all assumed that she got sent to Jersey's comp. when the massive EMP thing happened and that Melissa was sent to us during the same EMP thing. But now we know that Durga was already in Jersey's comp before the EMP thing so how did Durga get lose in the first place? If she caused the massive EMP which we thought started all of these stories than she wouldve had to be in more than one place ata a time. Do you see 3what Im saying? Maybe if someone could just type a little time line of general events it would help me understand. Thanks.

Durga got sent to Jersey's computer the same moment the FIRST time portal opened up and sent Melissa to us. The time portal generated by the artifact aboard the Apocolypso, activated by McKaskill.

From that point on, a "time-window" was open, between our time periods, large enough to push sound data through, but not stable enough to transmit an entire AI... this "time window" is sort of like a big curved tube, one end touches 2004, the other end touches 548 years later, as we move through time, this "time-tube" moves with us, the "future end" moving at the same speed as the "past end"

When Team Durga set off the artifact again, it created another large "time portal" that Melissa could successfully transmit her entire self through.

There is a problem with that spec, though.

Melissa was on ilovebees.com for a good month or so before the Apocalypso crashed out of slipspace, if we're saying that happened on August 24. The early phases of the game, the text-only ones, took place well before that. If Melissa didn't get sent back until the artifact pulse and chatternet blackout occured, then we wouldn't have seen the SPDR working on her before then. Confused

yes i have been haveing a bit of troubles with this time line myself. Unless Melissa was somehow able to change the point at which she was able to connect to the future. meaning that the EMP hit, melissa got sent to 2004, was broken for a month and then got her self put back togather. She then connects reconects to the future at the last point that she was there being the moment in 2552 that the EMP hit. I dont know, its rather squishy speck and i am confuseing my self already.

i kinda figured that those first clips were older, in between the first set and the second, it seems like some considerable time had passed... Durga had been monitoring the gang for a few weeks, so when melissa figured out that there was a time window, she went back as far as she could in Durga's memories (a few weeks) and broadcast that to us... every week, melissa just chose what she considered the "most important" events of the week to be broadcast

the wavs are old

I agree with vector and coffejedi.

Durga was on Jersey's chatter recording the waves simulataneously with Melissa being repaired by the SPDR.

We were unaware of Durga's existence until Melissa was repaired. But, Durga had been recording and transmitting waves to Melissa the entire time she was one Jersey's chatter.

Until Sunday, we only heard waves that Durga had recorded earlier. The initial waves we heard were about 6 weeks old, assuming that Durga landed on Jersey's computer about July 13th, which is about when Melissa appeared on ilovebees. (the date of the first entry in dana's blog). And we continued to lag behind, we heard the announcement of Reach falling ( which we know happened on August 30, 2552) sometime after August 30th this year.

Sunday was the first "live" broadcast of waves from Durga to us. That is why the site changed at the same time we heard the artifact being activated (or deactivated).

emp spike

I'm pretty confident upon listening to the wavs on Recipe8, that the FIRST EMP spike (at the start of all the wavs) somehow sent Durga/Melissa onto Jersey's computer, and the SECOND spike, when the artifact is deactivated/reactivated/whatever scrambles Melissa and either sends her to our time WITH the EMP spike or events yet to be revealed lead her to this time.

order of events and sleep-spying

1-future- An AI (Melissa) crashes onto Jersey's computer as result of an EMP spike. She suffers from a sort of amnesia. He decides to call her "Durga".

2-future-"Durga" spies on several subjects and stores the records(memories).

3-future-Another LARGER EMP spike scrambles "Durga", awakening another facet of her persona.

4-future-Aforementioned EMP spike sends "Durga" to our time. OR Events yet to be revealed send her to our time.

5-present-An AI crashes onto the ILB web server. She suffers some form of amnesia.

6-present-Through her repairs and regeneration (axon enhotenation), she becomes aware of certain "memories"/records of spying initiated by a "Durga" in the future.

7-present-Through some unknown means, Melissa is able to hide certain records of "Durga"'s spying from "Durga". It's not hard to imagine how Melissa may have accomplished this. She could have easily kept a string of code floating around in cyberspace for 500 or so years with the sole purpose of blocking a portion of Durga's memory. To Melissa, who has inherited Durga's memories, the effect of her sending out code would seem instant.

8-present-We, having heard the spy records of Durga's, send to Durga (via the flea) transcripts of Durga's spy records of which she has no knowledge (b/c of Melissa's intervention).

9-present-This is when we start to hear the memories about how Durga thinks she is "sleep-spying". Durga only knows that she hears a record of spy-sessions which she had no idea that she initiated (again, b/c of Melissa's memory block).

10-present-We finish unlocking (helping Melissa remember) the wav files (records).

If you have more to add, please do.
