Some yahoo thought it would be big yuks to lay on his SUV's horn repeatedly whilst I was in the crosswalk. I turned around to give the driver some choice words, but before I had opened my mouth, from behind me I heard a very loud voice yell "assholes!"

I turned back around to see an absolutely adorable little white-haired man, very proper-looking. My surprise must have been obvious, because he said to me, "I can say that to them, even if you can't." And with a polite nod, he strolled away.

Now, of course anyone who's ever read even a few of my posts knows that I am certainly capable of wielding any of the words useful in such a situation, but just the idea that a) I don't apparently look like someone with prodigious profanity skills, and b) that chivalry is not dead, even as it presents in this peculiar form, has made my day.

OMG, I've understood everything you've said but "it would be big yuks to lay on his SUV's horn repeatedly" (of course it sounds as something bad D: ).
Can you please explain this to me? Smile

"yuks" = obsolete U.S. slang for laughter

"big yuks" = a sarcastic reference to what an idiot finds amusing

"to lay on [one's] horn" = to sound a lengthy blast from one's automobile horn, often needlessly

I'm happy Troy and Alyssa are working on another Nature Break video, because who doesn't love Craig Digsby?

Let's see if I can't translate this into an approximation of Kiwi for you. So: a wanker, driving a wasteful, petrol-guzzling wankermobile, behaved a right drongo and blasted his horn, nearly deafening me as I crossed the street. Before I had a chance to rark up at the bastard, a sweet old man did so for me. I was dead chuffed. Smile

That's more australian, but whatevs. I got the gist of it.

Maybe, a c***, driving his shitbox car, was being a f****t and honkin' his horn. So I f****d him over?

Edited for offensive language

@ Hazman: Nah -- that's almost how a Yank would say it, luv. Wink

EDITED: (Probably minus a couple of those words, as they would be considered extremely offensive by American standards.)

And the whole point of my happiness was that someone else fucked him over on my behalf... Very Happy

I'm triply happy, because I just learned lots of new slang words from another country (not to mention a story involving angry old people), I added Merlot to my McDonald's berry smoothie (AMAZING) and there was a random Operator symbol outside the gas station tonight. Why the last one makes me happy is anyone's guess. Razz

Oh, thank you. Such idiots are everywhere -__-U I'm happy because of that angry old man too. In my mind he is like the Up movie old man x)

Woah, this is so different. I'm not familiarized with NZ English at all. Interesting Very Happy

Exactly.

I can see nature just walking out my door anytime I want. I can only see Slenderman in vlogs, photos, the mysterious wooded area by my house, around corners in my house, at night when I'm falling asleep in my house, and video games!

But it's not just nature. It's nature with a guy with a mustache!

Exactly^^

also, this is the off-topic thread to be happy in, so take your grumpy, impatient, non-troyhasacamera appreciating self to the rage thread or smth and stop raining on my parade of Digsby joy.
