Casting Call for 85% Finished ARG
If you're living in the greater Washington DC area and want to be an ARG Star

Hi everyone,

I'm actually not new here, been lurking, and reading since 2009, however over the last six months a small team has been developing a horror/thriller ARG (not Slenderman related Wink ). Now that we are just a few months away from launch, we are looking for actors and actresses. We have two roles that we are currently trying to cast:

Early to mid twenties male or female who will be one of the main characters. This will require a pretty long term commitment (though it shouldn't be too many long days)

And a male in their mid-fifties or older for a much shorter, two episode requirement.

If either of these interest and you and you live in Maryland, Northern Virginia, or Washington DC, please PM me for more detailed information. We are looking to have it fully cast by the first week in September so we can launch in October. Thank you for your time!

-Josh

Edit: I guess I should also add that I have a full casting notice with more details but I am refraining from posting it here, if you are interested in the roles and would like to see it, I'd be happy to send it along.

Questioning the quality of this ARG if you're just looking for random unFictioners. Put up a casting call on a site for actors. Texas has shortfilmtexas and CastingCallDallas.

Ask for people well versed in theater if you need improv skills for live events. The actors are going to NEED a better idea of the characters, at least in general terms of personality or if it's a dual role for some reason, so they know what they're getting into. They shouldn't have to ask you. That's unprofessional. If you're worried about uFers finding the call just list the film under another title or put (title pending).

..this is just really unprofessional wow. No. Use actors. Have scripts and properly written calls. Doing something like this on a forum and then saying you don't want to give anyone full info because you're afraid of leaking?
No.

Actors aren't going to leak your plot, trust me honey. Cast and shoot/rehearse it just like you would any normal TV show or film. (and please for the love of god pay your actors or at least give them food.)

/filmmaker rant on a forum about ARGs, sorry.

I sincerely appreciate the advice, and I think some of it has real merit.

However, it seems you took this pretty personally, I apologize if you did because I certainly didn't mean for you to to be offended by it. This is my first film production,(but not the first game, worked on a few indie computer games) I've ever worked on. The team as whole, myself very much included, have been learning as we go.

A lot of what you have said about posting notices on other websites and around community theaters is stuff have done already/are currently doing. To be honest, I just really wasn't sure about how to go about posting here without giving away big spoilers.

Edited to remove casting notice and spoilers within.
