Heee I think I have it! If you overlay the first card over the second, you get something like my attachment (excuse my crappy paint!). Then, convert the dots into binary:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

01000110010010010101001101001000010000110100000101001110

which converts into ASCII:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

FISHCAN

Laughing So what order should we send it?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

THEYCANDIVEBUTNOTJIVEFISHCAN maybe?

That's what I'm trying initially anyway!

EDIT - no, that didn't work! So, how to arrange these 28 characters??

How about:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

FISHCANDIVEBUTTHEYCANNOTJIVE
??

That one worked! Yay! I got this in reply:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

It looks like the vowel counting thing from earlier, which would mean 31 htiitrbsbn? I'm hurrying so might have done that wrong... I've tried that anyway but need to jump offline for an hour or so.. do we all need to send in the string to get a key or something?

Does this mean we need 100 different email senders? And we have to solve 100 puzzles? Hopefully some of them share the same coding mechanism.

EDIT: BTW, great solve, sequoya

It seems that way, doesn't it! That's a lot of senders, but hopefully there are at least some people lurking this thread who can help? Smile

I'm having trouble getting mine to activate, I did have it wrong in my post above, but as far as I can tell it should be "31 htiprobsbn" if we are using that same vowel counting code as earlier? But I keep getting rejected, so maybe not. Can someone check my work? I don't have my code on this computer from last time I did this, doh.

Scratch that, it was case sensitive! 31 is ACTIVATED Very Happy

Ditto on the BEAUT solve, sequoya! (My binary came out as FISKWAN & almost sent that in Embarassed ) Anyway, only your nbr. 31 is now "activated" at TDSDS

EDIT: With so very many to activate I'll send an email also and give it my *at leisure* best try.

Ten rows of 10 characters strings? Perhaps you could get the nth char for each row assuming the sequence of digits in Pi? They seem to like Pi, and I guess each puzzle has a prior similar puzzle...

I was given activation key 88 and (sorry) solved it before I posted here. I do some web work so the solution was pretty obvious to me. Here's the key:

Quote:

------------------ Activation key 88 ------------------

rwx-wx--x--x--x-wx------rwx-w-

And the solution:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

7311130072

You get this with the equivalent read/write/execute CHMOD permissions for the values above.

88 is now activated.

I have just sent this exact solution... Do you think we can get a second key? I'll try that

EDIT: just got this:
You are allowed to request only one activation key in every 6 hours. Try again later.

Hi, lurker here, willing to help Smile I'll go ahead and send an email with the secret string, let's see if I can do this!

Code:
--... -.-. .-- ----. .--- --. .... --. ---.. ..-

Mine is Morse decoding to: 7CW9JGHG8U.
Neither gCWiJGHGhU nor GCWIJGHGHU is correct. It's nbr 19 & the Morse translation alone finally activated it so the 10 characters can be letter/numbers combos, too.

ETA: Welcome to uF and this thread Sugarstain! Betcha you can do it just fine!

Would it work if someone who has already activated one sent the activation key again? Then we wouldn't need that many people just a few dedicated puzzle solvers.

:Edit: Got key 67.

Not really sure how to decode that. :/

You can get a code every 6 hours.

BTW, I got the 42, the puzzle was:

1000111010
0111011100

The answer was

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

1111100110
just a matter of employing a xor operation in the two sets of bits

Welcome Sugarstain and thanks/good job! Looks like we are at, what, 5/100? I've recruited my boyfriend to send another one at least Smile

Edit - he got #30, it was another vowel counting puzzle so that's another one down!
