concerned about ARG registration/recruitment

Hello, does anyone on here know why ARGs ask for things like blood type in their recruitment? just cautious about giving out that kind of info online.

I've never heard of one that does, but that doesn't seem too far fetched for an arg.

1} which arg is asking for THAT? Confused
2} blood type isn't exactly personally identifying info that matters if people know....

I can only imagine that the goal is to make you feel immersed -- or creeped out, or both. If you did not know you were playing a game, and some random website sent you a request for your specific blood type, you might pause to question, "Is this real? And how did they know?"

Or, it could be just a joke entry on the sign-up form, to make fun of other intrusive forms we've all encountered elsewhere.

thanks, was curious since the doublecrosshearts ARG asks for your name, age, blood type, traits and any personal life tragedies (optional), I can understand the name, age, traits and life tragedies but blood type is the one that had me worried. thanks again

Ahhhh.... It's an SMM story. Haven't investigated this one to see if it has actual ARG elements, but if people are filling something out I guess it must have at least shades of it.

EMH asked for blood type back during the Trials of HABIT... since these are horror based it's probably just for the creep factor. Or they are doing something based on the Japanese idea that blood types influence personality (kind of like horoscopes.)

Out of curiosity why would you feel unease about telling someone your blood type? Bank acct #s or Social Security numbers, sure... but no one can really cause much mischief based on blood type.

I know it is not really something to be worried about but I am still fairly new to this whole ARG thing and had to be sure whether ARGs CAN ask for that kind of stuff before I go and jump in. that is all

don't think there is anything an arg CAN'T ask for - after all - the player chooses to give the information - if the puppetmaster/writer asks for too much 'real life' info, then players will not give it and not paly - I'd go with creep factor - nice touch in my opinion!
