Just a note.... Looks like Dana made a mistake:

UPDATE: OMG! I posted the wrong time and date. Can you believe it? I'm so excited about the training mission, I spaced. The communications logs will be available at the 27 cache locations below starting at 18:00 Pacific Time on November 4th! Don't forget the relay code to pick up your log on DVD: "The Operator left something for me." Good luck!

Which is interesting given that she was quoting directly from a message left by Melissa. Pay no attention to the bees behind the curtain.

According to weephun's post above, that might not be possible. They will definitely have a limited supply, whether that limited supply is limited to the number of expected participants is another story.
Yeah, I know. I realize I'm pretty unlikely to wind up with a DVD - I've long since resigned myself to a spectator role in this ARG. Being an optimist I hold out hope that one will end up getting sent here (I emailed Dana to ask, but she didn't reply, which isn't really a good sign), but I'm not going to lose any sleep if I miss out. That's just the way life is.
Well, you are one of the people who I think we should be collecting swag for when we go on Thursday. There are people who have recently joined these forums and never posted or who have never contributed, and I personally think that they shouldn't get anything until those who were participants in the ARG get their gear first.
Of course, the PMs have no way of tracking that information, but it's a nice ideal.
(PS, I make the determination on whether you (specifically) are a contributor by checking the fact that your first post back on Aug 11 was in the ILB forums here on unfiction. That means that you've made almost 300 posts in the last 3 months. I'm sure at least some (that's humor son) of those posts were helpful. )

Haha, thanks. I don't know what my batting average is but I like to think it's above 0.

To be clear, I only made the warning about what weephun posted about (how extra swag may not be available at the Nov 4 events) so that people don't get their hopes up.
If I can social engineer someone in to handing extra swag over, I'm going to do it.
The easiest way is to just be nice to the people with the swag and say "can I have two?" (or more ) And if they say no ask instead "well, can I come back for any extras," and explain why... that we have people who dedicated months to ILB and are not even in the country and want to make sure they get SWAG to remember this ARG by.
I won't give up the rest of my social engineering tricks

Mazian, I salute your dedication. Whether or not your efforts are successful, thank you.

Mazian, I don't know if this helps, but the PMs are aware of the lottery. At least, vaguely.

I hate to be a potential party pooper, but if these are video DVDs (not audio), they might be Region 1 (North America/NTSC). So even if you dedicated out-of-towners did get one, I'm not sure if it would work in your machine.
....but let's burn that bridge when we come to it.

Well, listen ... something's going to happen on 11-7, because that's too good of an opportunity for the PMs to pass up. I mean, come on ... 11-7, John 117. I rest my case.

11-7 is when IGN's review of Halo 2 goes up.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

Playing region 1 DVDs is no problem here.

I've heard swag referred to as, "Stuff We All Get."

Swag I'm just happy that after the 4th those who made the effort to become crew, will have the chance to recieve mementos from Melissa c/o Dana. It shows that the PM's are grateful for our interest, and us wanting those tokens reveals that we enjoyed the time spent. Melissa (like Bungie) takes care of her people. I'm confident that all of us who actively participated will not be left out.
I 'm also pretty bummed that I won't be able to make the Orlando location...which wouldn't have been an issue for me 2 weeks ago, but I'm in Tampa now working. Oh well, if those of us on the crew can get the swag by mail that leaves the door open for those who can't. Good for them. Still...it would have been nice to be there in the flesh.

Daaamn.... Waiting on my reply from Dana (even a simple 'no, sorry, I can't help you' would do), and reading all this; now I want to go even more....
As far as 'waiting for my reply', I suppose I did send my message a bit late (9:30 Atlantic, that makes it...let's see...10:30 EST, and that's as far east as my knowledge of timezone differences goes....), so likely they haven't even been in to see it yet.

For those of you waiting for replies from Dana like I was, there is another small update to her blog.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but it was uploaded awhile ago and brought to my attention by fellow beekeepers in irc.
