The Tucson Mystery
Something strange is afoot!

The story so far:
An anon on 4chan's paranormal board, /x/, made a post about a sheet of paper that they found tucked in a book.

The paper contained a code, which was solved to say: IT ENDED BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT SEE INSIDE.

Even though the numbers were solved to be a code, an anon punched in the numbers as coordinates, and it pointed to an area in Tucson, Arizona.

This is close to the OP, but it might take some time before they can get out there.

Right now we are looking for someone in Tucson to drive to the coordinates, there might be something there that will help us figure this out.

Hi we found this:

Yo, /x/! I found this in the university library, tucked into an old book. Thought it was interesting, but doing the old alphanumeric substitution just gives

C T N K I N I E N M R U S N
S B N M L U H I K L T S N N
C K S C I N

I've tried a few different shifts based on those two Ns next to each other, making N= E, O, S, etc. Still didn't get anything that made sense. I tried playing with the numbers on the bottom and the letters at the top to see if they'd be a key, but I got nothing.

So, I'm all out of tricks. I figure more than a few people here are better at ciphers than I. Any thoughts?

Things that /x/ already figured out:

Hey guys, I figured it out because I'm a genius

The number to letter substitution is correct. We just need a new alphabet to convert those letters into other letters.
The "Do not forget" hints toward the keyword "reminder" or "remind" so you plug that into the beginning of the alphabet (removing duplicate letters) to get REMINDABCFGHJKLOPQSTUVWXYZ
To decode the message, you compare the letters of the key alphabet to the normal alphabet. Using this method I came up with the message:

"It ended because she could not see inside."

you can solve cryptogram with: http://www.blisstonia.com/software/WebDecrypto/index.php
or http://www.secretcodebreaker.com/scbsolvr.html

Bottom two rows of numbers are location in Tuscon Arizona

It should be documented that the original poster in /x/ wrote that the graph paper message was found in a library book related to desert animals.

I don't have the exact title, but iirc, it may have been more speciifc about reptiles and/or amphibians, and may have been related to nearby Tucson desert areas.

I hope OP gives more precise info related to book again, including page of book where graph paper message was found.

If real, and not an ARG, the graph paper should be dusted for prints.

I wonder if this could be related to Mayday Mystery ads in University of Arizona student newpapers- ?

@hugghesst

i think that all we know is in this thread, to find out more is the task of the brave adventurer that will go an visit the site, look what is waiting there for us, might be next piece of the puzzle, might be troll face, we will never know if we dont go there and check

here is backup of the original thread: http://archive.4plebs.org/x/thread/12977104/#12998094

i guess we can make new thread on 4chan, probably /b/ would be the best to find soemone to go on location quick but /b/ is also the biggest honeypot for trolls and gamejackers...
anyway making new threads on /x/ will only produce more wild speculations
