[QUESTION/SPEC] What do bees have to do with it, anyway?

While we have all been patting ourselves on the back for solving the puzzles and figuring out the wav files and such, it seems to me that one rather large question still remains...

What do bees have to do with the rest of it?

It seems to me that this is a fundamental question that maybe could answer why this happened at all... but unfortunately I'm not quite sure what the answer could be... Any [SPEC] guys?

Sure. Its a McGuffin.

A plot device to get us going.

Remember this all began on an innocent website about bees.

And then...

Actually, from reading my latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, there's a new species, Drones (called Buggers by UNSC,) who are bug-like things that work together. I can't remember if they are with the Covenant or not.

Bees that work for the queen are often called Drone Bees, so it could be a tip towards that.

I think that all the bee references May stem from this fractured last memory. references to halsey as having a "queenly" smile and the injection of the yellow, venom colored liquid. this last memory could have been warped into bees, then a general obsession with them

or.. err.. someone at bungie came up with it nearly randomly, or its completly plain to Them, but not us

"A bee dies when it stings you, but it can also sting you after it's dead."

I think this is the fundamental theme of ILB. Things return. Things can come back and get you when you're not paying attention. Or I'm just making this up without any coherent thought process.

"What's bees got to do with it
Got to do with it.
What's bees but a second-hand emotion?
What's bees got to do with it
Got to do with it.
You take you bees and your 'a pawn dot wave.'"

It's all a matter of simple quantam physics. If we take x to be Durga, and y to be Sleeping Princess, then the logical answer is of course, bricks!

I agree that there is more importance to the bees theme than we realize. Probably my strongest evidence for this is that when Durga was "attacked" by the artifact, she started saying "I love bees." So it is unclear if something about the artifact has to do with bees, or if it is the childhood memory of yasmine's when she was stung by a bee resurfacing because she is reminded of it by the EMP spike that caused the module core hemorrhage. Perhaps the flea's 114 broadcast will shed some light on the matter, but my guess is this is one of the puzzles that will remain open for us to discuss until our tongues fall out (or hands fall off as the case may be).
