I would think that if it were just going to be the .wavs they could put it on a cd. Does anyone know if/how much more expensive is it to make a DVD?
Except they won't fit on a CD. Red book audio CD is 74 minutes, ILB is over 5 hours.

Wait, so is Dana answering requests for the Transmissions Log now?
I only recently got into this ilovebees thing, but I want to be able to sit down and understand what happened... I saw it when the site first went up, but I didn't realize it had escalated to this intensity. =P
I'm just hoping that Melissa will judge me worthy to have the transmissions log...
I think there's a limited supply. Go ahead and try for it, but don't get your hopes up.

Question: Is the DVD just a recording of all the .wavs?
no can know for sure quite yet..but, AT THE VERY LEAST it will have recording of all the waves..I'm prepared for alittle bit, or possibly even a lot more though..

Well, they could put it on about 5 CDs. DVDs hold a lot more information.
A CD can fit ~80 minutes.

Yes, yes, okay, *I GET IT*. All is clear. Shouldn't you be running a lottery or making me tea or something?
Ooh, Michels conceded the race! Rejoice!
Some of us don't pay attention to such things because, horror of horrors, we DON'T BURN STUFF.

You want some tea? Sorry, I posted it while others were posting theirs.

Not quite, she's in the basement, I'm on the second floor.
I suppose we could call eachother...

Not if the audio was encoded as mp3 (like it is on the current site). It would be an awful waste of a dvd, my guess is that they're gonna have either live action or CG video to go with the audio that we heard on the site.

Nope. We were roommates throughout college. Now, she just spends a lot of time at my house.

Maybe I'm WAY freakin off on this, but a CD can hold like... 500 MBs of storage?
So, if you burn the wavs at the right compression, accepting that the audio quality has to be sufficient to be clear, but not so great that it has to be like friggen crystal.. there's MORE than enough room for the entirtey of Ilovebees in .wav format as data files on a CD. Track listings and what not can't be that much more hassle to add, can they?
I mean, it could be that I'm just not understanding the science of audio CDs at all. Somebody clear this up for me?

It's actually more like 700MB of storage on a CD, but that's beside the point.
Sure, you could encode the audio compressed like that, but then it wouldn't play on a standard CD audio player. The red book standard dictates 74 minutes of 44khz audio. If you mp3 encode it or recompress it in any other way to make it fit on a CD, it won't be playable in anything but a computer or a specialised mp3-cd player.
You are forgetting that the .wav files downloaded from ilovebees.com are actually compressed with the mp3 codec. If you uncompress them into standard PCM wav files they'll grow in size by a factor of roughly 10x.
