After Drayton mentioned that he probably downloaded the .gif file from a website, I used Google Image to try to find where it was from and only came up with an article on levator anguli oris (caninus). So that might be relevant. The password, maybe?

Good thinking Sayame! I also suggested that the password could be smile in french, but that does seem overly simple. But you never know.

Great job, Aconitum
That secret message was actually kinda cute, but knowing that it was written by a psychotic serial killer, makes it a bit creepy I don't want to know what he means by "returning a favor"! (jk, yes I do)

Just got word from Renna about an update on the blog ...
Quote:
Uhm
I just got a notification from YouTube, saying that my video is being uploaded... The issue, you ask yourself?
I didn't upload a video.
Did a quick youtube search on Quirkedcuriosity and found this
http://www.youtube.com/user/QuirkedCuriosity
interesting
not sure if the channel is related as the video was uploaded 2 weeks ago but it is strange that its his usual username... and its a letter opening as described on his blog...
edited
it is related... there is a link to his blog

No, that would be my channel.
I uploaded the video of me opening a letter on there. What the notification means is that a video is being uploaded to my channel, which means that someone logged in and uploaded something.
There's a video in my Video Manager tab called "surprise"
However, it's still processing and I can't view it.
mega props to @renna on the heads up on the blog post and suggestion to search youtube.

You know the video isnt really creepy, but the idea of someone wandering into your house recording makes it SUPER creepy.

So, Smiling Man didn't leave the letter, that masked dude did. I'm not that familiar with the Smiling Man (I just assumed it's creepy pasta), but does he always work alone?
Also, I love his outfit. Not suspicious looking at all to walk around in a grey hoodie, green steampunk glasses and striped mask in a broad daylight Oh, and I noticed, he's not wearing any gloves.

So I didnt find the video particularly creepy... to be honest im not even sure it was draytons house the guy in the mask was in.. it wasnt clear..
I think i would have been more creeped out if it was a guy in a suit who danced up to the front door wearing a massive smile like in the short video renna showed me and then just danced away...
to be honest and because unf is considered out of game... i just didnt get it..
i have seen the original story i assume is this one
http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/The_Smiling_Man
i didnt remember anything about masked minions.. however i can run with it for now and see what comes of it..
As renna pointed out - she is unable to post on the boards atm but we speak, it all seems very child like... theres a child like influence with the big smiley face and the zoom in and focus on the kids bike ect ect
Only thing that stuck out to me was after entering what i assumed to be a garage ( we call them that in scotland not sure if you guys outside uk have a different name) but the masked guy started kicking the crump outta something behind the door?
why he do this!?
as a sidenote there was 2 different videos on the channel you can see who i assume to be drayton opening the envelope that contained the original card...
anyone able to identify the crushed flower in the video? might be a clue might not.. just find it odd that the flowers were included in the envelope with the sd card.. unless it was some kind of twisted gift?

Well, Drayton said this is his house, so I think it's confirmed that it is his house
Also, in the previous blog posts Drayton was telling about this hooded person who has been standing outside his house and just staring him. This hooded person was also standing at Drayton's door for an hour or something and then he left the letter. But he probably isn't Smiling Man.
Drayton wrote:
The figure looked like he was wearing a hood, or something of the like. I wasn't able to make it out too clearly but it also looked like he was wearing something over his face, something I know Smiles' doesn't do. I'm fairly certain He'd rather shave His head than cover His grin.
So, we don't really know yet, what we're dealing with.

Something doesn't add up here. Whoever left the envelope stood at the door for an hour and a half first... so it looks like our cameraman stood there for that long, then started taking the video, and then put the envelope down... and then proceeded to walk around to the back and into the house. So he could have snuck into the house while Drayton was freaking out over the letter and taking pics of it through the door, retrieving it, etc... but I don't know if I really buy that. I've asked D if he can tell when the video was taken based on how things look in the house, but it's possible that this is a different envelope delivery we're seeing.
Otherwise, this means the guy was in the house while D was still there, and hid in the closet (for how long?) - which is creepy enough if you're not home, but if you are? Extra creepy.
I asked D earlier what kind of flowers were in the envelope and he couldn't tell, but didn't seem too concerned about it either. Which struck me as a little odd since he was so into figuring out the language of flowers for the bouquet. Maybe we should push him on it, see if he still has the dried flowers and can give us better pics or descriptions.
It didn't seem to me like he was kicking anything behind the door, but it's hard to tell with all the jostling around. I do wonder about all that time spent focusing on the concrete pillar just outside the door... I mean, that's just... odd.
