Well I found something that may help, but is it a secret? Is it something I should "keep in the dark" or what?
Aww screw it.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I wont give you the link but. Search Tam Lin 39 in yahoo. You'll see it.

Wait, really? That's what I named my favorite Grimm tale. Well, the first part, anyway. Are the numbers that we have to assign the tale numbers? I thought as first it sounded a bit like /we/ have to be assigned numbers, but no idea if that's right.

nice time to remind that unF is COMPLETELY out of game so we can share and should share here without punishment...
in otherwords as long as we keep all discussions here and not twitter ect then the pm cant hold it against us..
However i will more than likely discuss on twitter... i use it as my personal as well as game twitter so boo them if they want to kick me out ... lol
I fraoopin hate riddles...I have played enough professor Layton to know about them but still..
did i mention i hate riddles.
@rad.. maybe we need to keep you in the dark? did you pick that as your fav tale by any chance in the application ?
j/k

Frances James Child made a compilation of Ballads. Tam Lin is number 39. Also emailed them asking if the numbers related to the tales or the people in the trials and they said.
I never said these Trials
Would be an easy task.
Analyze the Ballad
The answers will come at last.

This has to be... one of THEE single best ever comments I have heard (seen) .. EVER.
I dislike the fact that we all seem to need to compete against each other for ranks and saying we cannot share well thats simply not true.
there is literally loads of versions of that riddle....

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for the first task. Because who knows if this is how the whole thing is going to be, or if this is just the lead up to something else.
in all fairness they did speed it up.. which was nice.. Just my personal bug bear i guess when ppl say we cant share but need to share lol

well i didnt just mean just this task, but the whole game seems ill managed and its kind of taken me out of it. one thing i like about ARGs is being able to suspend belief and play along, but when the behind the scenes technical issues are so obvious, its hard for me to do that. i dont fault the PM for what i assume is their first time. i think this idea has a lot of potential but for me im gonna have to wait for the next one.

Its one of those ones I wouldn't mind jumping behind the curtain on just to see where they are going with it. Like you say Lobo the idea is good the basis was good just the planning seems to be a little off.

I don't think there's a need to abandon ship just yet. This PM seems like s/he's likely new and has been learning and adapting. Although it says we should work together but also keep quiet, that doesn't mean we have to do that. And, as was previously mentioned, the rules of uF are that this site exists OOG and so nothing that goes on here can be used to penalize players IG.
NOW, on to the actual puzzle...
I'm curious about this verse:
Quote:
The guidelines here laid out: / Symbolism is key / Assign all these numbers / Based on their history .
(Bolding mine) So then are we going to be ordering things by chronological order, I wonder?

If this turns competitive, I'm officially out. I don't do PVP.
All the numbers in the post are:
- 001a
- thirty-nine
- first
- 001b
All the stories we have from applications are:
- Draghkar: The Forbidden Ones (?)
- Mehetabel: The Story of a Boy Who Went Forth to Learn Fear (KHM 4/A-T: 326 )
- Rad24: The Shoemaker and the Elves (KHM 39/A-T: 503 )
- Bluesylvia: The Three Languages (KHM 33/A-T 671 )
- Necropolitan: The Juniper Tree (KHM 47/A-T 720 )
The Nixie of the Mill-Pond (KHM 181/A-T 316 )
- Tenshi: Snow White and Red Rose (KHM 162/A-T 426 )
- Mrshomersimpson: The Devil with Three Golden Hairs (KHM 29/A-T 461 )
The Riddle (KHM 22/A-T 851 )
Fill in some blanks for me, guys... Here's the list of Grimms' Fairy Tales and the Aarne–Thompson classification system numbers.
On the other hand, Child's Ballads 001 is "Riddles Wisely Expounded ", which has both a version A and a version B.

Edit: Sorry! I was wrong.
My actual story was The Three Languages. KHM 33, A-T 671
But I'm not sure if these are the numbers we need since Tam Lin is not a story collected by the Grimm Brothers and has no Aarne-Thompson classification.
