well i didnt just mean just this task, but the whole game seems ill managed and its kind of taken me out of it. one thing i like about ARGs is being able to suspend belief and play along, but when the behind the scenes technical issues are so obvious, its hard for me to do that. i dont fault the PM for what i assume is their first time. i think this idea has a lot of potential but for me im gonna have to wait for the next one.

Just curious, what are the technical issues? I haven't noticed anything, aside from the wait being cut, which I think is just because the PMs saw us complaining Very Happy

And @mrs, I did, so maybe that's it...although I'm thinking they already had that planned as the story they chose/it's a coincidence. I'm totally not evil or anything. You can trust me Twisted Evil

Fill in some blanks for me, guys... Here's the list of Grimms' Fairy Tales and the Aarne–Thompson classification system numbers.

I also put down two...

The devil with the three golden hairs

and on a whim i picked

the riddle

I know the irony of hating riddles but picking that as one of my fav tales lol

My Grimm story was Death's Messengers (KHM 177 and I couldn't find it in the Aarne- Thompson thingy).

for me the first thing was choosing people/having people be recommended and then having those same people fill out an application. to me it felt like the applications completely negate the whole "pre-trial" portion of the game. i know it was also a way of announcing the game and getting people to talk about it, but that brings me to my second point.

the wait during ARGfest and then another month long wait on top of that. if the game wasn't ready to start then why start it? why not just wait until everything was good to go?

im not upset about any of this, but its these type of things that took me out of the game.

Dunno I like grassroots games so I try to be forgiving when the PMs make stumbles so long as they keep going and don't just implode their game. To me, it's better for a PM to make some scheduling errors and fix them than when a PM runs away from their own game without even a word of apology.

But could we lay this to rest? We now have a puzzle we can be solving, guys!

So what Drust said to Tenshi ("... Analyze the Ballad / The answers will come at last") got me thinking that perhaps an answer to what we need to be assigning numbers to is within the Tam Lin ballad. Since the Child Ballad is connected to the number 39 I decided to take a look at all its verses. The first thing I realized is that each alphabet number correlates to a different version of the same story. So what was originally a 68-page ballad from hell is really only three pages!

But while reading it a couple things did stand out to me:
Quote:
39 A.26:
"Just at the mirk and midnight hour
The fairy folk will ride,
And they that wad their true-love win,
At Miles Cross they maun bide."
Translation: The fairy folk will ride at the dark, midnight hour and for true-love to win we must wait at Miles Cross.

So the Mile's Cross mentioned in the tweet from earlier is the same as from the Tam Lin story. Janet (Tam Lin's true love) had to wait at Mile's Cross to rescue him and, presumably, around there is also the well where she threw him in as a burning coal to break him free from the Queen of the Fairies. After that they were rescued by the Summer Court.

New message. Apparently we've all been assigned roles. Although I expect we've all gotten the same message, I'm still adding the text of it, just in case.

Quote:
I apologize, I meant to send this out last night, but we are having communication issues as of late, considering that the war has started much sooner than we had planned.

We had hoped to train you in time to help fight on Hallowing Evening, but plans have changed. Due to certain circumstances, we will be training you as you fight- the Trials will still be in place to help keep up appearances with the Unholy Court, so that our strategies will not be discovered so easily.

Because these Trials will, for the most part, simply be a facade, we will be assigning you your roles based on your current applications instead of as a competitions.

At the same time the Trials are going on, you all will be given other tasks to help aide the Summer Court. Your current titles are listed here, descriptions are at the bottom. If you feel that you would like to change which title you have been given, you may message me directly about it and we will discuss which one will be a better fit for you.

Double Agents
Orange Lily
Crocus
Columbine
Aconitum

Sacrifices
Chrysanthemum Leucanthemum
Nightshade
Azalea
Gladiolus
Silybum
Iris
Plumeria

Mediators
Bells of Ireland
Wisteria
Anemone

Royal Guard
Black Rose

Double Agents: As it says, a select group to 'betray' us and work closely with the Unholy Court to learn a bit more about them and what their current strategies are. We thought that Tam Lin's information would be enough, but apparently it was not.

Sacrifices: You will be 'offering' yourself as sacrifices to the Unholy Court, in place of the six other mortals kept trapped in the Unholy Court. (and Tam Lin), in hopes that these negotiations will buy us a bit of time to find where they are being kept.

Mediators: Will work with Drust to learn wordplay and double meanings, and will help facilitate communications between the various groups of mortals-- as well as helping our Troopers find a good way to explain the situation to the nomadic groups so that they might be persuaded to join our side.

Royal Guard: Currently only Black Rose is being offered the position but others may step in as well if they so desire. You will be taken out of the Trials and trained specifically to learn the inner workings of the Court and help strategize and compile information.

Me? I'm totally content as a 'double agent'... *coughs*

Nah, we haven't gotten any leads, in that direction, yet. Draghkar was hassling Bellman about it, a few days ago, though.

Something about being named a "sacrifice" upsets me on a very deep-down primal level, and makes me wanna walk away from the game.I'm still gonna play though. but I think I learned a little bit about my inner survival instincts when I saw that.
