I think the most important and jarring thing about it is that they never talk ABOUT it. They've only ever really mentioned it in passing. "That Thing that follows [Alex] around," or here: "You mean...?" "Yeah."

It's human nature to be unwilling to talk about something you're deeply afraid of. I once met a man who referred to cancer as "the Unspeakable." There's a superstitious fear that naming the thing will summon it. For Jay and Tim, there's also the possibility that the Operator is listening to them.

Also they don't actually know its name

Okay. Stop this right now. Two warnings. DO NOT just blindly quote posts you are replying to. If you absolutely need to quote prior posts, edit out the unnecessary parts (usually everything except the exact text you're replying to). Furthermore, the faux script thing you're doing is really better suited to the off-topic thread.

Don't make me close an Entry discussion thread because of this.

Nice going guys. You pissed off the mod. Good job.

For all those who say they never talk about the operator... I'm sure the characters DO. It pretty much probably consumes their lives, after all.

They just don't post the discussions to YouTube. There really isn't a reason for Troy to to make an entry like that, I think.

It's a bit like saying "the characters never eat breakfast" because they don't post videos of it. We don't see them eating breakfast, therefore they don't eat breakfast - or change their clothes, maul kittens, go to the ATM, etc.

If Troy posted a vid of them discussing TO, it might appear redundant, unless they had new info... we know about as much as the main characters do (unless one of them is hiding something, which is likely... and will probably be a reveal later in the series.) After all, "Jay" is supposed to be sharing everything they find with us.

The discussions would likely be rehashes of the kind of discussions we have on Unfiction.

"So... that - thing"
"Yeah?"
Whaddaya think it is?"
"I dunno - what do you think it is?"
"Ummmm - I dunno either."
"You noticed that it doesn't have a face."
"Yep."
"When was the first time you saw it?"
"I don't remember."
"Me neither..."
"Hey, did you see my new shirt? It's brown."
"Yep."

I'm done with the stupid quote pyramids anyway...since Craig Digsby is already disproving my facts even though I haven't posted any since last time.

I Might Be Reading Too Much Into Things Here...

I just thought of something. I think we can safely say that #71 was the last entry uploaded by Jay. #72 had to be Tim (there's no way Jay was in any state to upload anything), #73 was Hoody, and #74 was obviously Tim as well.

We know from past HoodyCam entries that Hoody knows how to edit videos, but Tim has never struck me as the type of guy who's too familiar with that particular facet of technology. Example: in #64, when he asks Jay if the "blinking red light" means the camera's recording. He did minimal camera work for Alex's movie, and none of that appears to be edited in any way. However, while we have a lack of JayText in Tim-uploaded entries, both #72 and #74 still have introduction screens.

Again, I might be reading WAY too much into this, but what if Tim knows more about video-editing than we think? He already has full control of the camera, which Jay is quite obviously uncomfortable with. Having the ability to edit any footage he records gives him even more influence.

I'm just really curious as to how much of the past several weeks has been more than just "We're still hiding, and Jay's still out of it." And, of whatever footage is recorded of their journey back to Tim's house/the events that occur once they return, how much of it will be edited or altered in some way by our new narrator. Especially because of that tape.

(Random thought: wouldn't it be something if Tim took down #73 before Jay could see it and re-uploaded it so that the tape shot would be cut-out? Kind of far-fetched, but it would creep the shit out of me...)

Jay might have a preset to do the entry number text setup. And it's not super hard to put it in anyone who can use a computer can do it really.

I'm sure any 12-year-old with a computer would be able to use basic editing software such as Windows Movie Maker (or whatever Jay uses to edit videos) without much difficulty. Tim, not being much of a computer-savvy person, would be no different. Pretty much all the editing he did was the Entry text and a few cuts. Not too hard, compared to Jay's style: intro/outro text, text operlapping footage of Jay driving, audio removal (Entry #52), etc.

I guess so. No more 1am theorizing for me...

Though I still suppose that theoretically, if he edited the videos to cut certain scenes it may not necessarily be obvious to us.

Seriously. I know I'm veering OT here, but I really can't believe somebody managed to make the original Masked Slender-Stalker look so cute and cuddly and not-creepy.

I mean, just look at him.
