Tim's breakdown in the hospital, where he asks if everything's his fault, seems to imply Tim doesn't know how this mess started. For all he knows it may be him that brought TO into Alex's life.
In that case, it may be that Tim needs to die too.

...On a more meta-level, why is Tim uploading TO footage to the internet if he needs everyone to forget about it?

They use the channel for documentation. Tim probably uploaded them as a fail safe way to store the videos.

I look forward to finding out to what degree Tim lied. Was his deceit present from the very beginning when he supposedly gave Jay all the tapes, yet withheld this one? Or was he truthful then, and got a hold of this tape another time? I feel as though what is on the tape will converge somehow with the location, and whatever is at it, be it Alex/other holding Alex/other hostage or a trap laid by someone.

I feel like Tim did the exact same thing hat Alex did: gave Jay the tapes that pushed the blame away from/victimized himself. In all of Alex's tapes (the season 1 tapes), Alex is stalked by the Operator and looks to be helpless and sort of fearful.

Like that, in the tapes that Tim gave him, Tim was subjected to the stalking, the attacks by Alex, all of that. And in turn, Tim looked like the victim. But still, it's negated when it's discovered that they withheld tapes for the sake of protecting themselves from the blame.

I think that, in TTA's "Conversion", the plural "liars" referenced to are both Alex and Tim. Because, hell, look at what they've both done. No wonder Hoody/TTA don't trust Tim. He withheld information the same exact way Alex did.

A little bit off topic - but another little creative exercise for everyone: what is the most heart breaking thing Marble Hornets could do?

You and your creative exercises, Jordan.

Imagine having them killing off one of the main characters (Jay, Tim, Alex) with a slow, painful, agonizing death at the hands of the Operator. We don't know for sure the full extent of TO's abilities, but here's what I'm going for: Mental torture (pounding headaches, relieving terrible memories, etc) while your body parts contort and disfigure, leaving you writhing on the floor. Your body is inflicted with misery: heart attacks, strokes, seizures, all at the same time. This torture will continue until you die. The death will be slow and terrible. This, I believe, is the most heart breaking thing Marble Hornets could do.
