I like to think he's always been a liar. Nobody asks for unused footage of a crappy student film in order to upload "anything of significance" for everyone to see-- that implies he knew there was something messed up on those tapes to begin with.


Hadn't Jay lost most of his memories of Marble Hornets at the time he goes to get the tapes? I mean, maybe he was just looking for some answers about a time in his life he SHOULD remember, but doesn't. That's why I think he went to get the tapes in the first place. Not that he didn't think something went wrong, he knew something had to have gone wrong for him not to really remember a lot about it. But that doesn't make him a liar, or wrong in any way. Wouldn't you be curious too as to why you didn't remember much about the time you tried to make a movie with your friend?

 		@elford: Jay is suspect soley because he decided to publicly upload Alex's tapes to YouTube, after he explicitly told Jay he didn't want anything to do with them anymore. If the account was supposed to be private IG, then it would make a bit more sense. But then again we wouldn't have TTA (unless he can magically see private videos). Specifically for the fact that Jay basically betrayed Alex from the start, I no longer trust Jay. He is a terrible friend. Jay could watch the videos by himself. Why would he want EVERYONE to see them, dis-regarding Alex? Jay knew something we didn't. Right from the start.

Also,

Unresolved:

What happened to Amy?
What happened to Jessica?
What happened to that Hotel?
What are Tim's true motives?
What's on the entry 75 tape Jay got from Tim?
What compelled Jay to upload the videos, despite Alex's request?
Why is The Operator "Allied" with Alex?
Why did the Operator take that guy Alex killed in the Tunnel?
Who is Hoody?
Who are the TRUE liars?
How does teleporting work?
How does Masky-State work?
Where does Alex end up after teleporting near that tunnel?

There might be more in this list that I'm forgetting immediately, but that can't be resolved up to entry 80. Too much has to be answered. It has to end at or near Entry 100.

 		Well, although I do think some of those questions seem irrelevant and won't be answered, I don't think they could answer a satisfactory number of the unresolved questions until at least Entry 85 or so.

Well, sure-- but I wouldn't start a YouTube channel in order to upload "anything of significance" or "anything out of the ordinary" that I find within the footage. Just saying that would imply I know something is horribly, horribly wrong with the tapes and the people involved.

Yes, totally agree. Jay knew something we didn't. And has been with-holding this information from us all this time. Either his suspicions were made true, and didn't bother to re-iterate them, or he knows something else, something he has yet to tell us. Like I said before, after this recent revelation, I no longer trust Jay. I was beginning to feel for him cause of the memory blocks and his own masky state, but now... I've lost all faith in Jay. Depending on whats on the Entry 75 tape, Tim may be the only one we can trust at the moment, and he's not even the main protagonist.

And there's a good deal of questions that need answering. Yes some of them are minor, but it's just my opinion it'll reach Entry 100 or more before this series is declared complete.

 		A few points. As for the conversation about all the questions, I think we'll definitely find out what's on the tape, and Tim's true motives, but I'm pretty sure we'll find those out both at once, in the next entry. I think the only real questions left will be what happened to Amy and Jessica, and who is Hoody, assuming they don't get answered too. And honestly, I can see them blowing off Amy. I know it seemed like a big plot point, but it drifted off pretty quickly. And then, I could also see Alex say she really DID disappear and he doesn't know what happened with her, or that she died, or whatever, but like really offhandedly, in some entry where a bunch of other stuff happened.

As for this whole discussion about why Jay uploaded the tapes: If you read the original SA post, Jay mentions Alex was acting really, really weird. He seemed sickly and angry and then he disappeared without a trace. I don't think Jay knew something was up with the footage, but I don't think it was a stretch for Jay to suspect something might be up with the footage.

Plus that was really early on in the series, I don't think they were particularly trying to make that part of the premise realistic, and I certainly don't think they were planning some sort of reveal.

And when you consider that the impetus for uploading the entries started from a post Jay made on Something Awful, it just proves my theory that nothing good ever comes out of SA. Wink

I personally count Something Awful as OOG. It's too much of a setup for the series to start. It's Troy saying, hey look, I'm making a new ARG, come check it out and see what you think! Otherwise MH would be very obscure and no one would know about it. Now more than half the internet knows about it because SA (and 4chan and reedit) is the internet's melting pot.

I think that's what made MH so popular. It was the first of its kind, posted on an internet forum as IC, and it looked surprisingly realistic.

Then he'll realize that killing Alex won't fix everything, ruining TTA's plan. Maybe Jay will even try to free Alex at that point.

Ehhhhh. Marble Hornets started like one week after Slendeman came out on SA. At that time, all the Slenderman stuff was on SA. He probably posted it on SA, cause at the time, it had basically become the Slenderman thread. And then it was a video, not an image, so he had to make a YouTube channel. But originally it was very much so part of the whole Slenderman pictures thread.

It's spun out into it's own thing since it stopped basically being a video contribution to the Paranormal Images thread, but I think abandoning that as part of the canon is presumptuous. Heck, Jay made a comment about Entry #18 on SA. It was the last time he posted on it, but that doesn't change that the SA connection was still canon even that far in.

Anyway even if it wasn't canon my point still stands. (END SPOILER)
Alex was acting weird, for sure. He was angry, he said he was gonna burn the tapes, and then he just straight up disappeared. Maybe you need to suspend a little bit of disbelieve to take the Introduction at face value, but I think the evidence for it being some big Jay conspiracy is weak.
