How do players change the storyline?

Hi guys, I'm interested in using ARG in a science class. I need to design an ARG for the students, but I have a question here. How do the players' behaviors and decisions change the story of the game? If you can could you please give me an example? Thank you!

hello, don't know if you are still watching this topic but if you are, I would be glad to give you an example of an ARG where the story is changed based on player interactions and how it worked. A good example is the BEN DROWNED ARG, in this ARG players could send music from Majora's Mask as responses and this would alter the world of the ARG, for instance playing the song of time reversed time in the ARG by 3 days allowing access to a part of the website that was previously blocked, or playing the oath to order before it's proper time KILLED the main character.
