Well, if the rest of you haven't noticed:

Marcus seems to be looking for information on the missing books. If you read Gray's journal, he's hinting that Marcus wants the info in those books. Now with the kidnapping, and the trashing of his room, I'm guessing he found out what he wanted to know, and someone else didn't want him to find out.

 		No, he deciphered what was in that book Andrew gave him. The room was torn up because the person who kidnapped Marcus was looking for it. The only reason they didn't find it is because it was in a safe.

Marcus obviously discovered something about the book that either he wasn't supposed to know, or information that the kidnapper wants to find out.
